Obituary
Obituary of MSgt Charles Henry Corbitt,, USAF, Jr.
MSgt. Charles Henry Corbitt, Jr., U.S. Air Force, (Ret.), 82, died on January 9, 2020 at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born July 2, 1937 to Charles H. Corbitt, Sr. and Rose Canty in Wilmington, North Carolina. Charles was a retired Fire Chief in the United States Air Force where he served from October 15, 1956 to May 31, 1982. He received many honors and accolades for his achievements and leadership while in the Air Force. He had a zest for life. He loved to travel - not a summer went by without hearing him shout, "head 'em up-move 'em out!" to get everyone loaded in the car for yet another road trip. He was a Miami Dolphin football fan, however, the family believes he secretly loved the Broncos. Charles had a great personality and made friends wherever he went. His door was always open to anyone, whether it be a friend newly stationed in Colorado or a few young soldiers with no place to go for the holidays. He was a respected, honorable husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will forever be cherished and missed. Charles is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years, Robert Ann Corbitt; his parents, Charles and Rose Corbitt; his brother, Jim Corbitt; and his sister, Josie Gore. He is survived by his children, Greg, Beverly, Reginald, Brian and Robin; his siblings, Dave Corbitt, Isiah Corbitt and Sally MacKenzie; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
