I never met Jeff, just played online with him the last year. He was always a good laugh and always sneaking some online time when he thought Leah wouldn't notice :) He would use text to type from the road a lot which lead to some great mistakes! I'll treasure them more now x

Jeff and I only knew each other via an online game, but I came to consider him a good friend. I have never played alongside a better individual than him. I regret not taking the chance to meet him for drinks when I was in Denver in January. For a man who lost his fingers, had cancer (I believe multiple times), you'd believe he was indestructible. There will never be another quite like him. And in the spirit of our shared love of Game of Thrones (the very thing that nurtured our friendship), Valar Morghulis, my friend. I will miss our talks.

Although I did not know Jeff personally but through a game we both played, I considered him a good friend. Our alliance was a family that Jeff was an integral part of because of his care that we all have fun. My heart is saddened for the loss of someone so full of life and I will miss my dear friend. My sincere heartfelt sympathy to his beloved wife Leah, that he spoke of often, and of course his Gracie. They gave him the joy in life that he so graciously shared with others.

I met Jeff in an online game last year. In our brief acquaintance, he was always the funny one and polite one in our little online family. He connected players from all over the world together. I always imagined how he was in real life, he was like a big brother to a lot of us. Meeting Jeff was one of the best things happened to me in 2019, our memories shall never fade. 节

"He am not there. He does not sleep. He is a thousand winds that blow. He is the diamond glints on snow. He is the sunlight on ripened grain. He is the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, He is the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. He is the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at his grave and cry; He am not there. He did not die." Uncle Ho

Vampastar-KuchikiRukia Never met in Jeff in person. For me, he is King Edd, the protector of NOM members. We followed him from kingdom to kingdom. Now he left for the best kingdom of all. We will all join our King one day. Eternal rest grant to him, O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

I only knew Jeff as King Eddard. I spent some time last night reading private chats I had with Edd in discord, negotiations he helped with, advice he gave, jokes he made, the time he was at his in-laws for dinner and still sneaking off to help with a problem in the kingdom. You meet a lot of kinds of people in these games, some, come and go, but Edd was the kind of person that you wish you could hang with in RL. I truly grieve for his family, for theirs is a most terrible loss.

Leah & Family, words cannot express the sorrow we're all feeling. As others have said, we did not know Jeff "in real life", but from an online game we've played together for the last year. Jeff was one of our leaders and most active members. We only just learned about Jeff's passing last night after investigating his absence over the last week. Over the last year, we have had the absolute joy to play with and get to know Jeff. Many of us spoke with him every single day. It did not take long to learn that he was truly something special. His fun loving and genuinely caring nature, kindness, enthusiasm and integrity were evident in everything he did. The shock, sorrow, and grief we're all experiencing has taken me somewhat by surprise in its intensity. I can only imagine how painful this must be for all of you, the ones who were closest to him. I hope you can find some small comfort in the knowledge that you are not alone in your grief - there are hundreds of us spanning the globe in all corners of the earth, who are all grieving along with you. How proud you all must be of him, to have someone in your life who has touched so many is truly something special. We will miss him, and he will be in our hearts every single day. Leah, thank you for sharing him with us, even if it was a bit later than it should have been from time to time. Please give Gracie a hug and some pets from Jeff's internet friends.

Like some of us, I didn't know Jeff "Edd" in real life, but he was for us more than a friend, he was like a big brother who wanted to take care of all of us. Being so with us on a game, shows how great a man he had to be, a man of honor. It is with great sorrow that I wish you my deepest sympathies Leah and all the family and friends. We will miss him a lot

Jeff, aka King Eddard, was for me and most of us a Mentor...a FRIEND! It was a shock for us...i never met Jeff in person, but also through a screen he showed us,in every occasion, his kindness, his patience and his great spirit! He was a great man, although ours was a war game, he always fought for peace and fun for everyone, together as a family. I never forgot you, my friend. Condolences to Leah and all his family, i pray for you to overcome this terrible moment.

Jeff was my nephew and I dearly loved him. I thoroughly enjoyed my one to one conversations with him. He always challenged my thinking on most issues. One of my favorite memories of Jeff is when we got together He always greeted me by putting his arm around me and asked "so how have you been". Jeff loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was so blessed when Leah came into his life, the love of his life. He will be missed so very much, but we have a promise that one day we will see him again.

Once you met him, who could forget him?! So many wonderful memories of Jeff from time spent with our kids, to family get-togethers. My latest fond memory was him and Leah dancing back down the aisle at the end of their wedding. What a loss to us but a great addition to Heaven!

Jeff always impressed me as a strong person with determination to overcome whatever obstacles life gave him. I was impressed with his intelligence at a young age and was amazed when I heard him speaking fluent Spanish the last time I saw him. He had such a great smile and enthusiasm for life! I remember him telling me (with great joy) the story of his proposal to Leah and proudly showed me her engagement ring. He was happier than I had ever seen him! He loved Leah, his sweet dog and was do sweet with his nieces and nephews. He was driven and had the intelligence to know how to make that work for him. He was also adventurous (hence the sky-diving)! I have a lot of good memories of Jeff, his smile, his deep thoughts and his eternal zest for life. He will be so missed!

Dave and Nancy, I remember Jeff as such a happy child. He was always asking everyone laugh. He was such a pleasure to be around. We really missed you guys after you moved but knew that God had greater plans for all of you. Everyone that knew and loved Jeff will have a hole in their hearts but he will be with God looking overall of us. Love you guys.

So very sorry and grieved to hear of Jeff's passing. We have wonderful memories of visiting with him. He often sent our girls home with fun stories to tell us. We also are indebted to him for all of his help on our home after receiving significant hail damage. He was so very helpful and encouraging. We are sad with you. We are praying for the Lord's perfect comfort for all of the family. -The Wirth Family

Jeff was in my son's HHS class (Erik Miller, d. 2008), and in several of my English classes. Several years ago we reconnected on FB, and Jeff told me he especially loved my comparative myth class, and the textbook we used. I sent my copy of that textbook to Jeff, to add to the library he and Leah were building in their home--along with the Tolkien novels that he and Erik both loved and enjoyed discussing together. No doubt he and Erik are continuing those discussions--now and forever. Condolences to all of Jeff's family and friends. Joanne Miller Hill, Olympia WA.

Scott and I are friends and former classmates, and I also had the privilege of becoming buddies with Jeff over the years. He was a dear friend of my sister Heather's. When she heard the news of his passing this week her text to me read "he was one of my all time favorite human beings." That really sums it up. My sincerest condolences to the Karstens family. May the Lord provide you with the peace and comfort that only He can. With love, Sarah (Saxe) Jorgenson
