Bob and I were colleagues and friends in Engineering, at Technicon Industrial Systems during the mid 1970's. We had lots of common interests in higher math and the physical sciences. Bob was a warehouse of experience, which he freely shared. He was unpretentious and always willing to discuss and offer helpful suggestions when a technical challenge was brought to his attention. I once was offered a promotion in another Division of Technicon but my manager would let me go until I solved a final major design problem. Of course, Bob's willingness to listen and his suggestions helped me solve the problem and I got my promotion. He was a fantastic, caring human being and someone I was proud to call friend. His family and friends will miss him dearly. John Potts

Bob and I sang bass together for almost 20 years in a community chorus in Pleasantville, NY. Bob was the go-to guy when we needed a bass soloist in an ensemble group. He had a great vocal range and superb musicianship. We shared other interests in that I was a math professor at City College of NY, which was his alma mater. He liked recounting anecdotes from his college days, as well as current engineering problems he was working on. Always an engaging guy, unfailingly upbeat, even when life was giving him lemons, he made Monday night rehearsals more than a singing event for me. He began drifting away from the choral singing scene when he felt his voice no longer had the quality he expected. It was not true. But you could never convince Bob otherwise. That's just the way he was. My sincere condolences to Bob's family and everyone who counted him a friend. May you be comforted by the memories of a generous and caring soul. Bobby meant so much to me and to all of us. He loved music, people, and science too. Over the last few days I have been remembering how he used to teach me bits of physics and math while I was growing up. He was always loving and patient, and taught me, amongst many other things, to integrate by parts. A few years ago I came out to Boulder to teach physics at a summer school, and Bob came out to visit me there, and to sit in on a few lectures too! To have him in the audience, and later to introduce him to some of the other physics professors (over beer for me, and hot water for him), was a very proud moment for me. I hope that it was a proud moment for him too, and I hope that he realized how much his love and support made my life possible. Bob also taught me many other things about being a good man. Whether he was driving me to swim practice, or cleaning up after dinner, he always seemed to treasure the simple moments in life and that sticks with me today. He always placed others before himself (almost to a fault), and had a way of making everyone feel cared for through small kindnesses. Perhaps it was his own unique fashion sense; or perhaps it was his certain gift of gab; whatever it was, there are very few people that can make everyone feel comfortable with themselves the way Bobby could. I treasured the times that he visited us in Long Island, and got to know my son Noah, and the unconditional love that Bobby showed him. I think that Noah is still young enough to take this kind of love for granted, but he will someday learn that it is very rare.

What a blessing to have known "Uncle Bob." He was patient, thoughtful, an amazing listener and story-teller, a voice of reason and wisdom (except when it came to pushing his own boundaries.....it wasn't easy talking him out of taking a long road trip in bad weather, for example....). He will be missed by all who knew him. May his memory be for a blessing.

My memories of Bob are of a generous, light hearted grandpa, bringing smiles and laughter to Shanti and her friends. Sitting around at Camp Mather, guitar in hand, sharing music with us all. A good life lived, leaving me with many happy memories. Sending love to all those who loved him.

Thank you for making it possible for us to join you for a beautiful service; Bob & I shared our love for the HS of Music & Art, which we attended a few years apart. As Derek's mother-in-law, we saw each other at many family occasions. What a positive, kind, caring, loving, and musical mensch! Connie Boykan, NYC
