Obituary of Rhayan Kibet Langat

Rhayan Kibet Langat went to be with Lord on Saturday, April 4, 2020.Rhayan is survived by his loving mother, Tabitha Adijah Langat; step-father, Stephen Mwangi; sisters and brothers, Hope, Morris, Morgan, Josiah and baby Ann; his grandma, Dinah Lang'at. He also leaves behind uncles and aunties, namely Abraham and Helen Ng'eno, Ernest and Caroline Ng'eno, Joyce and Robert Sanga, Peter and Millicent Ng'eno, Robert and Winnie Ng'eno, Raymond and Ann Rono, Cheryl Chepkwony, Joan Mutai, Chris Mutai, Linda Rotich, Harrison Kibet among many others.Rhayan is also survived by his cousins, Kevin Sanga, Ian Sanga, Moses Kibet, Ethan Kiptoo, Abigail Chelangat, Janice Cherop, Ian Kibet, Daniella Chepkoech, Victor Kiptoo, Emmanuel Cheruiyot, Debrah Cheptoo, Tabitha Chepkemoi, Enock Kipkirui Koskei, Deborah Cheptoo and many other cousins in Kenya and the U.S.; other grandparents include Sarah Kikwai, Nancy and Nelson Mutai, Prof. Joash Keino, Joseph Sang, David Langat among others both here in the U.S. and back home in Kenya.Rhayan and his family moved to the U.S. in February 2010 and settled in Maryland for two years.The family later relocated to Colorado Springs in 2012 where he attended Vera Scott Elementary School, Woodmen Hills Elementary, Falcon Elementary School, Falcon Middle School and Colorado Military Academy where, until his death, he was a 7th grade student. Rhayan liked Fortnite, and his favorite foods were chapati and beef stew. His favorite places to eat included Chick-fil-A, In-N-Out Burger, Subway, and sometimes, Whataburger.Rhayan loved to sleep and woke up when chores were done. On the fateful day he was in a good mood, ate breakfast and started doing his homework and laundry even though he hated doing laundry. His mom prepared lunch, Omena and SukumaWiki, which he refused to eat and instead went for cereals. He was jovial all day, cracking jokes and laughing with his family as he always did. He asked his mother if she could subscribe to his YouTube channel if he ever made one, which his mother responded in the affirmative. He was trying to learn Swahili and spoke a lot of Swahili favorite words 'kuja hapa', �kwa nini'.Rhayan loved his hair, his mom remembers an incident when he went to the barber shop and after he got the haircut, he was upset and told his mom he will never cut his pretty hair again! Like every teenager he used to help himself with his mom's phone and take selfies and pictures. We have last videos he took before he passed on.He was actively involved in sports and he loved swimming, track and basketball. He had a dream and aspirations of joining the NBA in the future, he always talked and joked about it with family and friends. He was also an active youth member at the Church for All Nations in Colorado Springs. Rhayan left home with his step-dad on the fateful day to visit a family friend. He was in high spirits and jovial.
