Obituary of Barbara Jean Sharp
Barbara "B" Sharp was born in Bellingham, Washington to Ralph and Inga Hendrickson. She attended the University of Oregon where she met the love of her life, Cecil "C" Sharp. After college, they got married, and Cecil joined the United States Navy as a Supply Corps Officer.Barbara was a dedicated homemaker throughout Cecil's thirty-three-year career that took them and their two children, Phillip and Linda, all over the world. They were assigned to Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii for the second time in 1971, and it was here that she supported his opening of a new Navy Exchange Retail Store. She headed up a non-profit organization called Festival of Trees that sold Christmas trees and a huge array of decorations to local businesses. The profits from these sales went directly to Queens Hospital and their medical equipment needs. Each year for thirty-seven years Barbara organized twenty-five volunteers who typically generated $50,000 in sales each year. Quite an achievement."B" Sharp lived in Colorado Springs for the past eight years to be close to her daughter, Linda Hale and son-in-law, Skip Hale, their boys, Kevin and Erin, and their families.
