Jim, you will be missed fella. Sitting here typing this out with a lump in my throat is a sad effort. Although I know this is part of life, it feels so unfair that you're gone. I will miss the hours of comedy shenanigans online in our off time. It's all the laughs and relentless goofing on each other I will remember forever. But now that you're gone, I feel I can finally say it without reprisal...Elon Musk is overrated! :) Rest in peace

Sharon and Lewis family - I am so sorry for your loss. I was truly heartbroken to hear the news about Jim. I considered him a good friend and someone that I looked forward to talking to and laughing with at work. We always joked about me being eye-talian (Jims way of spelling it), college basketball and the St. Louis Rams football team. It's going to be hard not hearing his voice or his jokes during our team meetings. Those calls will never be the same without him. He was a great guy that will be missed more than you know. My family and I send our condolences.

Jim was an amazing guy with a personality that could fill the entire room. He always found time to answer my endless questions on how do do something or why something happened. He was extremely generous and frequently brought in breakfast burritos for several of us. Jim was always entertaining and caring. My life and the world is a better place because of Jim's influence on both. Wayne Blair

Jim and I were great friends in high school, bowling and cruising in his van. Such a fun person to be around. He will be missed. Deepest sympathy to the family.

Jim was a kindhearted and witty person that genuinely cared about the future of the planet that he was leaving for his children and grandchildren. He loved his family, friends, sports, gaming, SpaceX, and Tesla. Jim's enthusiasm for Tesla was infectious. I listened to Jim speak excitedly about a new electric car that was coming out in a few years. That excitement transferred to me, and I ordered a Model 3 online the day after he had waited in line for hours to do so. We spent years talking about and waiting for the car to arrive. Jim could barely sleep the night before he picked up his new car. On that day he was a happy but sleepy man. It was not only earthbound things that inspired Jim. He was enthusiastic about the potential of exploring the last frontier of space. He would wake up in the middle of the night to watch a SpaceX launch. He only missed a few launches over the years. He would take every success and failure as if he was part of the engineering team. My condolences to all of his family and friends. Though I will miss Jim, I am grateful for all the time that I got to spend with him. He brought a lot of joy to all of us. Godspeed, my friend.

Sharon~a fond memory I have was you and Jim stopping by to have lunch with us after visiting Space-X and driving out to Palm Springs to spend some days in 119 degree heat......Typical Jim was teasing you about the timing . I remember thinking to myself as I watched you both. He really adores her. Praying all those fond memories comforts your heart....

I enjoyed pitching obscure 70's through 90's cultural references into conversation with Jim. He recognized them all from movies to music, to politics and history. I will miss Jim's quick wit and helpful attitude. He was kind, grateful and kept his promises. Safe travels, friend.
