Sending my condolence and love in the passing on of Irene. Have precious, fond memories when we lived across the street on Glen Meadows Drive and your family on Beveridge Hill Ave. My mom and dad were dear friends of your parents in Pawtucket and my sister Dolores and I always have a smile on our face and heart remembering those days. My folks talked often about Irene and Jack and as you know, made a trip out to Colorado to visit you all. They loved the Almeida family and we do too. My first memory of meeting Irene, my sister and I were teen agers and my parents bought a home, across the street from Irene & Jack. Their boys were all much younger than us. We go back over 55 years, my mom wanted to change our garage into a family room and Irene was friendly, walking bye the house and shared some ideas with my mom. Not only did she come and give my mom ideas of how to remodel the garage, she helped with the renovation! Putting the floor and walls, up. Irene never forgot my mom and kept in touch years and years after the Almeda's moved to Colorado. My parents went out to visit with them, so they remained close. Yes, and years later, Bruce would come back with his children and wife to visit in Pawtucket, R.I. Always stopping bye to see my parents. Because Irene loved Jesus, I am happy for Heaven and we'll have another reunion someday.

I had the pleasure of meeting Irene, Bruce, and Debbie at Captain D's where I work....and where she loved to come for fish and chips! She quickly stole my heart, although I didn't get to know her very long and she only new me as the fish lady, or her friend...she will forever hold a place in my heart. And I have the pleasure of calling Bruce and Debbie friends and family.

My deepest condolences to everyone for the loss of Aunty Irene. I have the fondest memories of visiting everyone on Beverage Hill Ave in Pawtucket. I still look at the house EVERY time I drive by! Grandma (GG) was an amazing woman and I have too many memories to share but one thing I will always have is her recipes and songs that even my own children know and sing from " I scream you scream we all scream for ice cream" because we always went to her house on Sunday and had Sundaes on Sunday to "I love you a bushel and a peck" and " kitty cat kitty cat" etc etc! Love you!!!

When a young girl in 1973 was refused joining the Little League baseball league her sons played on, her and a group of other parents felt that there should be a little league baseball for young girls. So, her and a small group of others started The Pawtucket Slaterettes Girls "BASEBALL" League. Irene was an officer and coach in the league from its start and led the 1976 Crusaders, Girls Junior Division Champions. While she loved the boys in her life, she always wanted girls and she would call her team "Her Girls". Irene was a member of the league until 1980, then she and the family moved to Colorado in 1981. Irene loved telling stories of her time as a member of the Slaterettes.

Thank You Brenda So you know the proof you were and are a good friend to our family. Mom would ask many time near the end, when I would talk to her, she would offend said did you hear from the one with the dog. I would know from the other time in the passed she was talking about you even though she could not remember your name. Knowing we were FB friends I would show her post from your page, she would tell me that not her dog, and I would have to explain many times, it is now, or no that is just a link about a dog not hers.
