Obituary of Kathleen "Kathy" Marie Hartleib

Kathleen "Kathy" Marie Hartleib, 76, died May 29, 2020 in Peyton, Colorado.She was born June 20, 1943 in Minot, North Dakota to Joseph and Irene (Hoyum) Kaczor.Kathy was raised and educated in Minot. She attended Little Flower Catholic School and graduated from Bishop Ryan Catholic School in 1961.She married Murel Hartleib on March 3, 1962 and they raised three children, Bridgette Shannon, James Hartleib and Rebecca McCabe.Kathy worked at Tempo, Newberrys and Home of Economy for thirty-one years. She was also active in the Girl Scouts for about ten years.She attended Little Flower Catholic Church in North Dakota, where she belonged to the Ladies Confraternity and worked with premarriage couples for over twenty-five years. Kathy was a Eucharistic Minister for many years with the church, served on a parish council, and belonged to Bible study for many years.Kathy moved to Colorado Springs in 2014 to live with her daughter, Bridgette Shannon, until her death.She attended Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the church book club there, and participated in the fall Bible studies.Kathy enjoyed reading, camping, playing pinochle, and traveling.She was preceded in death by her husband, Murel H. Hartleib; and her parents.Kathy is survived by her daughters, Bridgette (Malcolm) Shannon of Peyton, Colorado and Rebecca McCabe of Indianapolis, Indiana; son, James (Kim) Hartleib of Clarksville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jessica Harpenau, Ashley Hartleib, Colton Hartleib, Joshua Shannon, Lance Hartleib, Jaime Hartleib, Jennica McCabe, Justin McCabe, and Danielle Shannon; thirteen great-grandchildren; and sisters, Patricia Salsey, Lynda McKenzie, Judy Stecker, Mary Walz, and Janice Gray.Visitation, 10:00AM, followed by a Rosary, 10:30AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00AM, Friday, June 5, 2020, Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church, 11020 Teachout Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80908.Interment, Sawyer City Cemetery, Sawyer, Ward County, North Dakota 58781.
