My dearest friend of 50 years has passed. I know she is no longer suffering or dependent on others and she is with her beloved husband and beloved dog Snickers but I feel a void and terribly miss her. She and Danny and Verl and I use to do everything together. When we were young and first married ( both of us), we started getting together every Saturday , even in snow storms, and played cards. We played with pennies we saved during the week. This lasted for over 20, even when our children were growing up. We would rent cabins together in New Mexico for vacations. One time Danny and Verl had so much gas and were farting so bad that Dianne and I had to leave. We walked in the snow at night to a cafe. We walked forever to get there. We were frozen. We drank several pots of hot coffee and laughed and enjoyed the evening. When we returned, everyone was asleep. we chatted by the fireplace until wee hours. Another time we purchased a travel trailer together. We took it to Greenbelt Lake. I needed to go to the restroom but Danny was on the potty in the trailer. I went outside at night in the dark. Huge mistake! I got eaten up by chiggers where I squatted. I was miserable. Verl has to remove the Chiggers from my butt individually with tweezers. Daunne teased me about that for years. My memories are countless and awesome but so were Danny and Daunne. What a team they were and Daunne was one special Lady. Few understood her but those who did, loved her. She was very outspoken and wouldn't hesitate to speak her mind or offer her opinions. She loved everyone , especially her children and family and would not mean for her words to be misinterpreted. She thought giving her opinion was being a good friend and Mom. She also had a very soft heart and loved to help and encourage young adults. She would follow your dream as well as her own. She had a lot of stories to tell and would tell them with humor and animation. Daunne always had a twinkle in her eye, she had spunk and she stayed strong. When Danny died, her health declined and she became dependent on others. Her rapid decline had a toll on all of us. It was hard to let her go but I know the twinkle in her eye has returned.

Tamra and Family, Since the passing of our dear friend Daunne, so many memories flood back over the years of things we have done as friends. We were blessed to have had Daunne and Danny in our lives. We first met your parents when they were members of the Amarillo Astronomy Club. From that time we just hit it off. Here are just a few of our memories. ?Astronomy club picnics, looking at the stars, (I know some of you were there also.) Your mom and I sitting in my back yard, she was painting a scene on the old wash tub that was my dad's which by the way still sits in our back yard. Traveling with your mom on many ESA trips, I especially remember when we all went to see Willie Nelson in Wichita Falls, TX. Daunne was so "artsy crafty", she could do anything. She did so much for sorority and myself. In 1996 your parents were the first ones to travel with us to Las Vegas and then on to Mountain Meadows Utah to see the place where my Baker ancestors were massacred on Sept. 11, 1857. What a memory we will never forget. Your dad would always help me when I had to write a letter, etc on working with Mountain Meadows. Icould go on and on, but I guess one of the best things I remember is Bob, your mom and dad sitting at our dinner table, eating, drinking a glass of wine, and all the laughter. Sometimes I wish we could capture just one of those moments, but now we only carry them in our heart. We are keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers and may God send you His strength, comfort, and peace in the days ahead. Love, Cheri and Bob Walker

Mummie, My first memory of you wasn't so great, as I cut my finger on your screen door. But my second memory of you was the best. You rescued me from a terrible situation and became my mommy. You gave me a little doll I named "Sleepy Baby" and you took me on my first plane ride. You loved me unconditionally before I even knew you... and you never stopped. Not even when I became a monster during my teen years. I am so grateful to have spent every day of the last two months of your life with you. Thank God your Medicaid still hadn't been approved or we would have been robbed of that. You have given me so much to share with my children. Thank you for every selfless moment and for all of the magic you brought to my childhood. Now it is my turn, and I hope I make you proud. I do not want to say good-bye, so I'll just leave it at this... I love you to the moon and back. Forever. Your Grateful Baby Girl, Tamara (Zumbrun) Hall

Thank you for sharing your wonderful memories. It means more than you know. Mummie loved you very dearly and talked about you constantly. She always wanted to know if you were okay, even thought she wasn't okay. That is true blue love. For my part, I grew up with you and Bobby in my life. You are extended family to me. If ever you need anything, let me know. I love you. <3

I saw that twinkle a few more times before she left. I was saving it for her service, but she was still "Mummie" until the very end. She was afraid she was losing it, but I knew better. She loses nothing. Even in death, she won her freedom.
