Obituary of DeAndra "Dandy" Dawn Semler

A baby girl was born on September 10, 1976 in Las Animas, Colorado. When her Nanny and Poppy Morlan came from Wiley to see her in the nursery, Poppy said, "Ain't she a Dandy?" And so she was, named DeAndra Dawn Semler, affectionately and forever known as "Dandy".Dandy grew up in Wiley with her big sister, Darci, and mom and dad, Patti and Herb, until 1988, surrounded and loved by every person, friend, and family in the small, friendly town.In November 1992, Dandy and Darci's dad, Herb, passed away. Patti and the girls moved to Canon City, Colorado and graduated from high school. A brother, Dace Daniel, joined the girls there in 1989.After high school, Dandy worked as a CNA and did home health care in Canon City until she moved to Denver and continued her education and work in health care. Dandy also met Tim Perkins and had a daughter with him named Destiny Starr in 1999.Dandy and Destiny moved back to Colorado Springs where she worked once again in a health care center for twelve years. During that time, Dandy brought her son, Thadeus Zane-James Semler, into the world and also became a grandmother to Destiny's daughter, Anaya Zaylyn-Faith, in 2016.Dandy and her little family resided on Grosbear Lane in Colorado Springs until July 1, 2020, when our funny, laughing, sweet soul, Dandy Dawn, believer of blessings, helper to all in need, heart full of love for others, and personal servant for Jesus, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep.She was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents; her father, Herb; and a nephew, Houston.Dandy is survived by her daughter, Destiny Starr; her son, Thadeus Zane-James; her granddaughter, Anaya Zaylyn-Faith; her mom, Patricia "Patti" Smith of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister, Darci Dashell (Joe) of Walsh, Colorado; brother, Dace Daniel (Buffy) Neugebauer of Granada, Colorado; two nephews, Mykel Sisneros and Tanner Sisneros; one niece, Emri; and one great-niece, Ilya.A private Funeral Service will be held at The Springs Funeral Services.Inurnment, Wiley Cemetery, Wiley, Colorado 81092.
