Obituary of Mary Ellen Enck

Mary Ellen Enck was born Mary Ellen Wright in Missouri on March 3, 1936. She moved to Colorado not long after she was born to live with her grandparents, who raised her until she was old enough to leave home. During her childhood and teen years, she became an accomplished ice skater and snow skier, competing in both sports. In her early 20's she skated with the Ice Capades, until an opportunity to become a flight attendant moved her to Los Angeles, California, where she and her best friend flew the "Friendly Skies". It was at the Los Angeles Airport Hilton where she met my father. Soon after, they were married.. Sadly, their marriage ended when her husband passed in 1974. A single mom, she worked hard to become a real estate broker and provide her only daughter with the best life possible. In 1999, she moved back home to Colorado where she lived the remainder of her life. She leaves behind her only daughter, Michelle; granddaughter, Sarah; three kitties, Lucky, Tuxedo, and Biscuit; and a black lab named Gillie (the true loves of her life.)As Mary was also a voice for those who couldn't speak for themselves, she touched the lives of anyone who was fortunate enough to come in contact with her. She was generous, warm and kind with an infectious laugh that would brighten even the darkest hour. Her talents were too many to list. Her true passion was writing historical fiction. She was a published author and an esteemed member of the literary groups she was involved with. Mary also was a respected member of World of Warcraft, which she played from the games inception.Sarah Enck's words for Mary:Nana was like a second mother to me, she treated me like a grandmother should, with warmth and affection. Doing the best she could to spoil me with gifts at birthdays and holidays. She made every memory of her a good one. Whenever I used to go out to the park by myself, she would lecture me about being careful. I never took it lightly, and would never complain, but now I realize that her asking me to stay, wasn't to give me a hard time, it was really because she cared. Mary's heart was bigger than most, she cared more than anyone else. I'll forever be thankful for her inspiring me to take up so many artistic hobbies. Because of her, I can now write poetry, and stories. I can play the violin, ukulele, guitar, and piano. She is the reason I have all of these passions. I'll never be able to properly thank her. I'll miss her more than anything.
