Obituary of Kenneth Howard Smith

Kenneth Smith died August 3, 2020 surrounded by all of his children in his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado.Ken's children include Jack (dec'd) (children, Heather, Jake and Joe), Doug and his fianc�, Kris (children, Kenzie, Shaemus, Mason and Aiden), Jenny and her husband, Larry (children, Joleen and Mandy), Nancy and her husband, Brian (children, Nicolette and Natalia), Cheryl and her husband, Jim (children, Mitchel and Stella), Vicki and her husband, Austin (children, Finley, Tommy and Hannah), and Steve and his wife, Julie (children, Abi and Ava). Ken's great-grandchildren include Azalea, Aubrey, Scarlett and Ivy. Ken is also survived by his brother, Charles Smith.He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie; and son, Jack.Ken was born on February 28, 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland. He moved to Illinois and lived in Western Spring for many years, where he raised his family. Ken married Maggie in 2005 and then in 2009, they moved to Colorado Springs, where he lived the rest of his life.Ken worked in the railroad industry, as did his father, in a variety of positions from his teenage years until his retirement. He retired from the Belt Railway in 1996.Ken had a passion for trains. He was also an avid gun enthusiast as a marksman and collector. He participated in numerous shooting competitions.Everyone who knew Ken remembers him as a kind person who loved his family.In recent years, Ken experienced a variety of health issues.
