Obituary of Marina Alekseyevna Mitchell

Marina Gulina was born in Chelyabinsk, Russia, located in the Urals Mountains. From a young age she loved dreaming of seeing the world. In school she was always at the top of her class. When she started college, she traveled to England for a summer job. From that experience she had the travel bug for the next couple summers. She traveled to New York and New Jersey to work. In the summer of 2004, she traveled to work in Alaska. On April 17, 2005, Marina met her Thomas and, after their first date, they spent every day on a new adventure together. They spent so much time together that they fell in love. On May 4, 2016 they flew to Las Vegas, Nevada on vacation. Marina (the woman with a golden smile) married Thomas that night. They married at the Excalibur Hotel as a King and Queen. The next three days, they traveled to Red Rocks Canyon; Page, Arizona; Grand Canyon; Bryce Canyon; and Zion National Parks. This made their bond even stronger. After three amazing years of seeing Northern lights, fly fishing, ATVing and flying around Alaska, they ended up with two amazing puppy dogs, Macy and Clio. They were like her kids during this time. Marina's husband then received moving orders to move to Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico. So they spent thirty-five days traveling from Alaska to New Mexico. The trip was amazing, because they stopped at every town and National Park on the way. The highlight of the trip was when their travel trailer, that they just purchased for the trip, welds broke. In the middle of nowhere in Canada, a stranger was driving and saw Marina sitting by the trailer. The stranger saw Marina's infectious smile and decided to help them for free. After this, the rest of trip made their bond even stronger, stopping at ten more National Parks on their way to New Mexico. As they arrived at Cannon AFB, they were shocked how run down everything was. Instead of complaining about everything, Marina just planned weekend trips. They saw some amazing places there, but no UFOs. Everywhere they traveled in New Mexico, she always made friends with the locals. So after six months of traveling around making friends, they always had a place to stay. While in New Mexico, she went back to college and ended up with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Master of Science in International Economics, and Small Animal Massage Practitioner. On November 5, 2010, Marina became a U.S. Citizen in a swearing-in ceremony in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In May 2011, her husband was seriously injured during this deploy. They decided to move to Colorado for his medical treatments. Luckily for the family, Marina easily relocated to Colorado Springs. She became the bread winner of the family during this time. Three years later, they decided to start a family. Now Sofia, 6, and Alexander, 2, are part of their lives.Funeral Service, 10:00AM, Tuesday, August 18, 2020, Holy Theophany Orthodox Church, 2770 North Chestnut Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907.Graveside Service, 12:00PM, Tuesday, August 18, 2020, Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drenan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925.
