Obituary of Aileen Ann Cannan
Aileen Ann Cannan passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020 at the age of 87 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.Ann was born to Louis and Claire Ackerman in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 1, 1933. Ann was a teacher in Anderson, California for over twenty years, and in her "retirement", continued to teach music to elementary students. She served on many committees and boards for the City of Anderson, including serving as Mayor. Ann was also involved with several educational organizations and served on the Cascade Unified District School Board. In 2016 she was finally able to tell one of her favorite stories in a children's book when "Save That Cat" was published.Ann grew up all over the western United States, following her engineer father. As he made dams to tame wild rivers, she learned to make friends in any situation - a skill that became her hallmark from childhood through wonderful years singing with the Glee Club at Gonzaga to being the voice of reason in a small town, always able to see both sides of any issue. She was a talented pianist and vocalist and enjoyed putting these talents to use planning school Christmas pageants, singing the "Star Spangled Banner" at the Shasta County Fair, and playing the piano for anyone who cared to listen. Other hobbies included cooking, gardening, traveling, jigsaw puzzles, and playing Bridge.Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Claire; her sister, Sally Ackerman; her son, Michael Cannan; and daughter, Barbara Beall. She is survived by her brother and his wife, Richard and Nola Ackerman; brother, Roger Ackerman; son and his wife, John and Diane Cannan; daughter and her husband, Amy and Leonard Gorospe; son-in-law, Christopher Beall; grandsons, Joshua Cannan, Drake Cannan, Patrick Beall, Galen Beall, Ryan Gorospe, Cooper Gorospe; and great-granddaughter, Constance "Koko" Cannan.
