Obituary of Ralph Lee Perry
Ralph Lee Perry, 96, of Colorado Springs, passed away peacefully in his home on August 13, 2020. He was born on September 10, 1923 in Denver, Colorado to Rilla (Stenhouse) Perry and Norman Ezra Perry. His childhood was spent in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Ohio State University until he was drafted at the age of 18. He was assigned to the 20th Combat Mapping Squadron stationed in India. After discharge, he completed his BS, MS, and MD degrees from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Ralph was a Pediatrician in private practice in Sharon, Pennsylvania for thirty-two years, followed by seven years as a Civilian Medical Officer at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado.Ralph was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Sharon, Pennsylvania. He was also a member of the Order of St. Luke. In Colorado Springs, he was an active member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church. Art was a passion of his, including watercolor painting, sculpture, and photography. He also enjoyed music throughout his life, playing guitar, ukulele, and trombone. He was a Naturalist, teaching his family the love of nature. After retirement, he was a docent at the Bear Creek and Fountain Creek Nature Centers in Colorado Springs. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Robert Bruce Perry, MD. His is survived by his wife, Mary Lou (Steffa) Perry. They spent seventy-two wonderful years together. He will be missed by his surviving children, Charles Perry, Mary Lee Anthony, Laura Mills, Todd Perry, and Walter Perry. He was "Bopa" to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.He left a legacy of loving kindness.Memorial contributions in Ralph's memory may be made to St. Michael's Episcopal Church, stmikeschurch.com, 7400 Tudor Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80919.
