Obituary of Stella "Bonnie" Marie Turner

Stella "Bonnie" Marie Turner, 71, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed quietly with family on August 28, 2020. She is now onto her next spiritual journey.She was born on April 30, 1949 in Colorado Springs.Bonnie was raised by her mother, Dorothy Vannorsdel, in beautiful Hawaii. She graduated from McKinley High School in 1967. From there, she went on to join the Army, where she served for nine years as a tank mechanic. Bonnie went on to receive several medals, after serving in Honduras: Good Conduct Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon and Army Achievement Medal. She raised five kids and decided in the middle of that, to became a Police Officer in the town of Lamar, Colorado. She once again served her community for ten years. Bonnie was the first female officer on the force and helped establish the D.A.R.E. Program in Lamar. She loved to be a civil servant wherever she lived. She was with District 11 for fifteen years, as mainly a Security Patrol officer and dispatch, where she retired. In her retirement, she enjoyed gardening, which is a passion she always had. Bonnie loved spending time with her family and friends, hanging out and giving great life advice. Bonnie created her family and always welcomed new members with open arms. She used her knowledge and influence to help those in need. She is preceded in death by her sister, Diana Nack; her grandson, Jesse, Jr.; and mother, Dorothy Vannorsdel. Bonnie is survived by her five children, Johnny, Rene�, Chris, Andrea and Jennifer; thirteen grandchildren; and five great-grandbabies. Private Memorial Service, 1:00PM, Friday, September 4, 2020.
