Mary was a thoughtful and caring friend with a great sense of humor and dry wit. She treated our family like her own and was generous with her gift of quilting. We have many wonderful memories of Mary that we will always cherish.

I primarily knew Mary through Rick, but even with limited time around Mary, I knew she was a special woman. She raised wonderful children and even turned Rick into someone she could take out in public. She was always kind to me and created a wonderful gift for me - a quilt that commemorated my years living the Air Force life in Alaska. I treasure that gift and the years that I knew Mary. As is fitting the mother of the family, Mary led her family into heaven and will someday greet each of them with long awaited kisses and hugs. For me, I thank God each day for special people like Mary - they make my journey easier.

I remember when I was a little girl Aunt Mary made me a winter hat that could also be used as a scarf. This hat was longer/taller than me at that age. To this day I still have that hat which I am now taller than and will wear it proudly this winter and every time I do I will think of her!! I love you aunt Mary and miss you so much❤️

Fate introduced me to Mary by way of a simple "Roommate Wanted" ad placed in the Washington Post back in 1982. From the moment we met, we became close friends. We spent time with each others' families, double-dated with our future husbands, and had children who are still friends even now. We even had the same job! We shared a lot of adventures as our AF husbands' careers wound our paths back to each other over and over again. Fate again intervened when Mary was "retirement" househunting with the kids almost 20 years ago and suddenly a "For Sale" sign appeared in a neighbor's lawn. One of the BEST things that ever happened to us was when the Mraz family became our extended family who lived only 3 houses away. Mary has always been there for me - a true and honest friend who I could turn to for anything. We laughed, we gossiped, we crafted, we took care of each others' plants (Mary firmly believed that you need to talk to your plants). I cannot put into words how special Mary was to me. I miss her so much, every day, but I have so many happy memories with her to hold in my heart and to cherish. ... I feel so Blessed that she was a part of my life. Only 150 steps away.

Mary what can I say we miss you so, you were so good for Rick, dedicated wife, mother, G-Ma. I recall meeting you in Alexandria VA at Rick's apartment on a quick visit from Norfolk, I could tell how much Rick loved you then by just the expression on his face. Your cheerful smiles, that laughter and love for him will never fade from your family. Although missed dearly we will see you again!

I can remember the first time we meet Mary. Rick brought her home to me us. He informed Mary that he had three brothers and that when we were to eat as the food was passed that she should make sure she took all she wanted as a second pass would probably be empty. And Rick was right. We loved Mary so much she was such a good mate for Rick. Our Love, prayers and Blessings are with Rick and his family - Mom and Dad Mraz

Such a beautiful celebration of our dear, long time friend Mary! We enjoyed meeting you in 1985 at WPAFB, OH. We will always treasure our last meal with Rick and Mary 3 years ago when we were in Colorado Springs.
