Obituary of Diane Lea Bennett
Diane Lea Bennett, 54, a native of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2020. The family wishes to extend their deep gratitude to the ICU nurses and staff at Memorial Main Hospital.Diane was a beautiful person in every sense. She was caring, sensitive, nurturing, gentle, and kind. She thoroughly enjoyed being a "second mom" to her son's friends.Diane loved to play with babies and little ones. She was fond of her nephews and nieces and created wonderful memories of special sleepovers. She had a great sense of humor, loved to dance, and sing. Connecting with people and lifting them up was important to her, as was evident during her years as a waitress at Barney's Diner. She bravely battled chronic illnesses, however, it didn't dim her attempts to give of herself - whether it was her famous lasagna, relish plates, or delicious desserts. She enjoyed cooking, music, Nascar, and football, and absolutely loved being a mom and grandma.Diane was preceded in death by family members, Floyd Elliott, Ron Zoerb and Fred Daugharty; and ex-husband, Mike Thomas. She is survived by her parents, Don and Joan "JoAnn" Ward; husband, Damon; sons, Nathan, Jeff (Heather) Thomas, Bryan (Brogann) Thomas and two children; brother, Steve (Brenda) and family - Jayson "Jay", Kyra, Timothy, and Justin Elliott; aunt, Linda Zoerb and family - Kevin (Sylvia) and family, Kirk (Cathy) Zoerb, and Kelly (Joe) Garcia and family; aunts, Loretta (Jerry) Kotel and family, Barbara Daugharty and family; stepchildren, Nicole Willey and family, and Brian (Ashley) Willey and family.Memorial Mass, 10:00AM, Saturday, September 12, 2020, St. Paul Catholic Church, 9 El Pomar Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80906.Memorial contributions in Diane's memory may be made to:Colorado Families for Hands & Voices5255 Saddle DriveColorado Springs, CO 80918https://www.coloradogives.org/CoHandsVoices/overview, to support families whose children are deaf or hard-of-hearing.
