Obituary of SMSgt Kenneth Bruce Schinstine, USAF,
Kenneth Schinstine was born on June 4, 1933 in Easton, Pennsylvania to William and Ruth Schinstine. He died on September 1, 2020. Ken is survived by his wife, Margaret; and children, William and Karen; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.Ken graduated Easton High School, Easton, Pennsylvania, attended West Chester State Teachers College, West Chester, Pennsylvania, then enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1953. During his twenty-three years of service, he served as a Bandsman trumpet player at several Air Force bases before being selected for the new Air Force Academy Band, Lowry AFB, Denver in 1955. He transitioned with the Band to Colorado Springs, Colorado with the opening of new US Air Force Academy. Ken's accomplishments during his military service include performing with the prestigious Falconaires Show Band, lead trumpet player in the Concert Band and was selected to lead as NCOIC of the Concert Band for the last few years of his Air Force career. Ken retired from the Air Force in late 1976 at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant.After retirement, Ken moved to Chicago, Illinois as Staff Vice President of the National Association of Music Merchants before retuning to Colorado Springs to serve as Assistant Church Administrator and Producer of the television presentation of "Church Alive" for the First United Methodist Church. Ken also served as Administrator of the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, Florida and the First Presbyterian Church of Colorado Springs, Colorado. After twenty-four years of Church administration, Ken approached retirement in increments, continuing to serve as a fund raiser for the United Methodist Foundation and then as Executive Director of the Rotary Club of Colorado Springs.A private Graveside Service will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday, September 23, 2020. The service will be streamed live.
