Obituary of Margierie Carol Fell

Margierie Carol Fell, 69, of Monument, Colorado, was a woman of immense faith and gracious spirit. She passed away quietly in her home on the afternoon of Monday, September 7th, 2020. Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on August 27, 1951 to David and Margierie Butler, Carol was aptly named: throughout her life, she used her voice to bring joy to others and to sing the praises of her Lord. She graduated from Taft High School in 1969 and went on to earn a bachelor of arts degree from California Baptist University, where she also met Gregory Fell, the man she married and ministered alongside for 47 years. In addition to her ministry as the wife of a pastor, she also spent three years as a fourth-grade teacher, opting for an early retirement so she could devote herself to a career as a personal chef, chauffeur, maid, nurse, secretary, stylist, and counselor to her two daughters. Throughout these years, she was a devoted member of the church choir and an esteemed Bible study leader. In 1999, Carol took on the role of administrative assistant to Greg in his work as the district superintendent for the Rocky Mountain District of the Evangelical Free Church of America. Among her administrative duties, Carol wrote a quarterly column titled "Just Some Thoughts," a medium through which she blessed others with her insights and wisdom.Maybe it was her Southern upbringing, or her mother's legacy, or just who she was - whatever the reason, Carol had a way of making people feel welcome and cared for in her presence and, especially, in her home. Of course, those over when a football game was on would quickly realize that this otherwise quiet, gentle woman was capable of impassioned shouting and, somehow, of swearing without muttering a single actual expletive. If a Monday morning quarterback offers useless critiques in retrospect, she was more of a Friday night prophetess, able to predict a play before it happened and offer an analysis which would match verbatim with what the commentators would say a moment later. Similarly, all those years as a Southern Baptist never allowed to attend school dances gave rise to a mother who would put on music and cut a rug with her girls in the living room or make her way to the dance floor at a wedding and let her inner dancer shine. Though humble, she couldn't help but remind others of those times she won competing against her children and grandchildren at Just Dance on the Wii. Her true character, however, is again reflected in the very reason she became interested in football - not because of her competitive streak but because her stepfather spent so many weekends alone in the living room watching games and she wanted him to have company and someone with whom to share his passion and pastime. While she had a heart for many on this earth, Carol spent a lifetime missing her father, who passed in 1957, and two decades missing her mother and her younger sister, Debra Church. She is also preceded in death by her niece, Megan Church; her grandmother, Gracie Nobles; and her stepfather, Barney "B.C." Bunch. Carol leaves behind her husband, Greg; her daughters and sons-in-law, Tiffany and Bud Hunt and Laura and Chris McClave; her grandchildren, Caleb, Ani, Teagan, Quinn, Annabella, and Levi; her brother, Randy Bunch; her brother-in-law, Rick Church; and her nieces and nephews, Alisa Sutherland, Anna Church, Lindsay Church, Charissa Mumley, Christian Bunch, Chloe Bunch, and Cameron Bunch.A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 18, 2020; the service will be streamed at 2:00PM through Facebook.com/fefc.cos/live.
