Obituary of Anthony "Tony" William Yacono

On Thursday, September 10, 2020, Anthony "Tony" William Yacono, loving husband, father of 2, grandfather of 4, passed away at the age of 68.Tony was born in Staten Island, New York, on October 26, 1951, to Angelo and Judith (Binnie) Yacono. His love of Christ took him to Baptist Bible College after high school and a couple of years at UTEP. He served the Lord in full time or lay ministry for 50 years. He worked in service industries from the age of 16 until his retirement in 2017.On June 12, 1975, he married his life-long best friend, Yvonne (Ludwigsen). They raised a daughter and a son, Keri and Scott.Thinking of Tony, the Star Trek quote, "Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man and let history decide," describes the truth of his life.If you knew Tony, you knew his love for God, for his family, people, the Yankees, movies, and reading. A teacher at heart, he was teaching even if he wasn't teaching.Faithfully, every day, without fail, you would find Tony early in the morning spending time with God.God was always first.Dressed in his ever-present smile and his Yankee's attire, Tony talked; he never knew a stranger and always served in whatever capacity was needed.Five minutes with Tony and you felt like you knew him for a lifetime as he shared stories; about his grandchildren (whom he gifted their Yankees hats AT birth), friends, and family you may or may not have ever met.Whoever was in front of him got his full attention in that moment.Yvonne and Tony's marriage was a testimony of faithfulness.Best friends for 48 years, married for 45 of those, their relationship brought light and life with example to others everywhere.Tony was preceded in death by his mother, Judith. He is survived by his father, Angelo; his wife, Yvonne; his two children, Keri (Calvin) and Scott (Kristina); his four grandchildren, Angela, Timothy, Brianna, and Samantha; his five siblings, and many nieces and nephews. Our loss is heaven's gain.Tony, we know you have been met with "Well done, good and faithful servant." Even now, we know that your words to us are, "God's faithful, even in this," and "God has always provided in the past, and now is no different."Memorial Service, 1:00PM, Saturday, September 26, 2020, Summit Center of Mountain Springs Church, 7345 Adventure Way, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80923.Unfortunately, due to current circumstances, there will be limited seating capacity at the memorial service but we plan to live stream the service (details below). There will also be an open house reception following the service from 3:00PM to 8:00PM at the home of Calvin & Keri Krug, located at 3205 Birnamwood Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80920.A subsequent Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00PM, Saturday, October 24, 2020, Anthem Community Church, 10885 South Eastern Avenue #100, Henderson, Nevada, 89052.
