Obituary of Dorothy "Dot" Lillian Franklin

Dorothy "Dot" Smith Franklin, 93, of Colorado Springs, Colorado went to Heaven on September 24, 2020 after she fought a long, hard battle with cancer.She was born May 8, 1927 in Gadsden County, Florida to Albert Brian and Eva Elizabeth (Clark) Smith.Dot began her working life at Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company in Jacksonville, Florida. She was eventually transferred to Miami, Florida where she met her husband, John "Bill" William Franklin, and they got married in 1956. However, after having children, she was a homemaker for the rest of her life. Bill preceded Dot to heaven in 2013.She is survived by three children, Janice Gail (Tom) Cathey of Colorado Springs, Colorado, John William (Lois) Franklin Jr., of Pensacola, Florida, and Edward Lane (Lori) Franklin of Kansas City, Kansas; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Patsy Canetta of Tallahassee, Florida; and brother, Russell Smith of Flat Creek, Florida.Memorial Service, 10:00AM, Friday, October 9, 2020, Cross Fellowship Church, 10915 Black Forest Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80908.
