I SO wish I had a photo! I loved it when he smiled! When he made a decision for what was right, it didn't seem to matter who- or what level of insanity- he was up against! And he seemed so thoroughly and genuinely surprised when it worked out well! Lol... He was so humble he couldn't pretend anything different, so when he stood up, you had to know that whatever happened next was going to be just as real!! Man! I wish I'd hugged him the last time I saw him! I don't think he knew- I asked my Father to lift him up right then. From 50 yards away, through a badly broken windshield and from the back his head, I could see he needed the results of prayer right then. I thought I should- but I couldn't. I was always so stressed and rushed and stuck! I'd be sure to talk with him-- "tomorrow...." Then, I drove out to the woods, lost my Jeep and everything I owned, and I remembered the last time, when he'd kept all I owned from getting stolen by a numchuck-wieldin' crazy guy for what must have been at least 3 days! But that was not the first time I was truly impressed with Dean! About a year or two earlier, he was PRETENDING to throw my knife BADLY- into the creek to his right- while sticking it firmly into the tree trunk- which stood several feet to his left!! Ha! He made me scream with that first throw! I imagined him going into that creek to find my knife! Then he grinned at me, pulled the knife out of the trunk, and he laughed! "Very cool." I said. "Well done!" ~jeans

Dean had saved my life more than once. As a homeless female for many years, crazy things have happened to me, but never when he was with me.. He was always a gentlemen never treated me the way other men did.. He was my best friend for many years, this is a huge loss! I have been sober for a couple of years now and the hardest part of my recovery is leaving my street family behind! Many have gone to prison and others have died. He was amazing and is going to be missed by many. The last time I saw him I got out and gave him a huge hug not knowing it would be the last. Stephanie McGinley
