Obituary of Michael August Satriano

Mike Satriano, 98, died October 19, 2020 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in 1921 in Arvada, Colorado to Paul and Concetta Satriano. He was one of nine boys in the family.Mike was a member of the Coast Guard during WWII, serving in San Francisco as a deputy shipping commissioner. Following the war, he married his wife, Mary, in Denver and then moved to Colorado Springs as the local sales and operations manager for P.I.E. Truck-line where he worked for almost forty years.He was a member of the National Sons of Italy foundation and he was immensely proud of this Italian heritage. He also volunteered his time to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo as a docent for school trips and tours which he enjoyed immensely. Mike and Mary were also active members of the International Polka Club in Colorado Springs where they spent many Saturday nights with friends dancing the night away, and were even crowned Prince and Princess of the Club for a year. He was also a member of the Rotary Club during his working years, and a charter member of the North End Club in Colorado Springs. Mike loved his family and was a large presence in his children's, grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren's lives and spent many happy days enjoying all of their activities. He had several hobbies that he enjoyed including gardening, playing cards with family and friends, and telling his many jokes to friends and strangers alike. He was loved by all he met and he "never met a stranger". He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty-six years, Mary Satriano; seven of his brothers; and his parents, Paul and Concetta.Mike is survived by his children, Mike (Margaret) and Linda Madden; his grandchildren, Gregory (Erin), Anthony, Jennifer (Kiel), Dominic (Itzel), Connie, and Juliana; his great-grandchildren, Lillian, Bryce, Everly, and Isaac; he is also survived by his brother, Paul (Helen); and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mike's memory may be made to Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 626 Aspen Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80911.Visitation, 6:00PM-8:00PM, Friday, October 30, 2020, The Springs Funeral Services, 6575 Oakwood Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80923.
