Best grandma EVER! Grandma Dykstra was an avid reader of children's books. I'm certain she must have loved to read to us because she did it all of the time - piles and stacks of books that we would load onto her lap. She would hold me and my two brothers in what seemed like an all-day reading session. Our favorite book was about a monster who was on a swing, having the time of his life. The monster would sing, "I love to run, I love to sing, but most of all I love to swing." Another child wanted to swing as well, but the monster loved swinging so much that he wouldn't give up his seat. Eventually the story led to a moralistic, dramatic, climactic ending with the monster sharing the swing. We loved the book so much because Grandma would read and sing with great emotion. "We love to run, We love to sing, but MOST of all WE LOVE TO SWING." She loved to travel and had albums full of pictures labeled with typed caption. She took each of us on a very special trip of our own. She created memories, told stories, and taught us card games. She never said an unkind word to anyone or about anyone. She was a woman of exceptional character. She leaves us with a special heritage, amazing stories, lots of laughter, and lessons on how to live a life worthy of remembering. Grandma, if there is a swing set in heaven, I'll meet you there. We love to run, We love to sing, but MOST of all WE LOVE TO SWING! Love you, Bri Bear
