Obituary of Melanie Jo Wallace

Melanie Jo Wallace passed away on December 15, 2020, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, after bravely battling illness. She was born on September 23, 1963, at Chemin Du Valton in vreux, France, to W. H. Wallace and Barbara Joyce (Bryant) Wallace. Being part of a military family, the Wallace's moved and eventually settled in Widefield, Colorado when Melanie and her older sister, Ramona, were in elementary school. The family welcomed Melanie's younger brother, William "Stacy", not long after the family moved to Colorado. Before Melanie became a teenager, she was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. This eventually led her to join a local Lupus support group. That group's friendship and support helped her throughout the years as she battled the disease and attended countless doctor appointments and endured many treatments.Melanie was part of the class of 1981 from Widefield High School. She also attended the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs from 1982 through 1983. Melanie was an avid reader of many different genres and a movie buff. Melanie was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and attended the Widefield congregation. She enjoyed many friendships with the brothers and sisters there. She was dedicated in her studies and meeting attendance. Her faith was very important to her.In 1998, Melanie began volunteering at the Fountain Valley Senior Center. Her warm spirit and infectious smile greeted those who spent time at the center, where Melanie taught knitting classes. Over the many years she volunteered, she was given volunteer awards by the center that she cherished. Her time spent at the senior center was something she never wanted to miss. All who love Melanie know she was a devoted Denver Broncos fan. She could be seen frequently clad in orange and blue during football season. Melanie's favorite color was red, though, followed by pink. Melanie also loved all things Disney, Scooby-Doo, and Looney Tunes. She was a kid at heart and enjoyed sharing her love of cartoons and video games with her nephew and niece. Some of her most beloved family trips were to Disney World. Animals, especially dogs, were also very special to Melanie. She always kept a box of dog biscuits nearby to share with her favorite four-legged friends. Her "furry nieces", as she called them, were recipients of many toys and treats over the years. Melanie made many friends when she lived at Broadmoor Court Assisted Living Center, and most recently, at Life Care Center in Colorado Springs. She greatly appreciated all of the nurses, CNA's, and doctors who cared for her during her lifetime. Melanie was preceded in death by her mother, father, and sister. She is survived by her brother, Stacy (Julia) Wallace; niece, Camdyn Wallace; nephew, Andrew (Mandi) Williams; great-nieces, Amasia Reid and Lexi Williams; and many beloved aunts and cousins.A Memorial Service via Zoom by Melanie's Kingdom Hall brothers and sisters will be held at 2:00PM (MT), Saturday, January 9, 2021.
