Obituary of Michael "Mike" J. McSweeney
Michael "Mike" J. McSweeney, 56, passed away December 15, 2020 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Mike struggled through life and fought a fierce fight. Now his struggles are over and he is at peace.He was the cherished first son of Terrence "Terry" McSweeney (deceased) and Patricia R. McSweeney of McCormick, South Carolina. Mike was the brother of and is survived by his four siblings, Susan "Sue" (Michael) Cox of Richmond Hill, Georgia, Sharon "Sherri" McSweeney of Buford, Georgia, Laurie (Paul) Maloney of Jefferson, Georgia, and Terrence "Terry" (Deborah) McSweeney of Waco, Texas. He was a beloved uncle to Kelly, Erin, Keri, Alyssa, Kevin, Ryan, Marcus, Brian and Mitchel. He was the nephew of Margaret "Peg" and George "Bud" Ainge (deceased) and Sandy Bristoll (deceased); and had several cousins and great-nieces and nephews.Mike was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan but spent the majority of his growing up years in Centerville, Ohio. He graduated from Centerville High School and joined the Marine Corps. Mike moved to Colorado after leaving the Marine Corps. He moved to Georgia in 2000, but returned to Colorado a few years later as he always loved Colorado. Mike was a very talented craftsman and spent a large amount of his career doing remodeling work. He also spent several years as an over-the-road truck driver.Mike was a very loving and caring man who easily shared his love with his family and many friends. He enjoyed sports and was an avid Denver Broncos fan. He also had a great love of dogs, especially his buddy, "Bear", who unfortunately preceded Mike in death but is now reunited with him.Mike was loved very much and will be terribly missed by his family and friends here on Earth but will be joyfully welcomed by his dad and many other loved ones in Heaven. Rest in peace Mike.
