Obituary of Mary Patricia "Patti" Miller
Mary Patricia Miller (ne Howard) passed away, Thursday December 17, 2020.She was born September 23, 1958 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Thomas and Rosemary (ne Davey) Howard.Better known as Patti, she was a born athlete, capturing title after title in swimming, diving, field hockey, and track. In fact, this Madeira School District Amazon competed in the first Title IX Track and Field event in Ohio.In 1982, Patti obtained her Bachelor's Degree from University of Cincinnati and went to work for her father's business at Howard Office Equipment.A woman of great spirituality, Patti was brought up at St. Gertrude School and Parish, and would later become a parishioner at St. Anthony's in her adult life.Patti's sanctuary has always been the water. Memories of Patti by the poolside or off a diving board flood the minds of many of her friends and family members when reflecting on her life. She loved teaching people how to swim, including every child in the neighborhood in the back yard pool. Her beginning lesson was always teaching her student how to float peacefully on their back in the water.Fort Scott, Patti's summer camp where she spent time as both a camper and a counselor, allowed her to broaden her swim teaching to new creative heights. One year, she choreographed a performance with swimmers leaping gracefully off the incredible multi tiered diving boards and plunging into the pool below through floating rings of fire, all to the tune of a song from the musical "Cats." She loved Fort Scott and made many lifelong friends there.Patti's truest pride and joy will always be her daughter, Megan. They have always shared an incredibly close bond and were the best of friends. In recent months, Megan, an active duty Officer in the Army, received orders to Fort Carson in Colorado. It was a dream come true when Megan was able to move Patti to her new home in Colorado to live with her, Megan's partner Paul, and the family's beloved dog, Bailey.Patti is survived by sister, Lynne Weber (ne Howard); brother, Greg Howard; birth daughter, Angela; daughter, Megan; and many close friends and cousins.
