Obituary of Earl William "Scotty" Scott, Jr.

Earl William "Scotty" Scott, Jr., 93, passed away December 19, 2020 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.He was born September 28, 1927 in Liberal, Kansas to Earl William Scott, Sr. and Cora Lucille (Martz) Scott.Scotty was raised in Liberal, Kansas where he graduated from high school. He later moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado with his family. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.In 1957, Scotty was married to Rosie Lee Bouse Hartsfield. They lived with their sons and daughter in Security for many years, where Scotty was a letter carrier.They moved to Gravette, Arkansas in November 1977 to raise chickens. Scotty worked at a bird farm and raised thousands of chickens at their home for Tysons. He loved working with all the different birds. They sold their land and chickens to move back to Liberal, Kansas where he was a maintenance man for Liberal Housing.His last days were spent at Silvercrest and Sunny Vista in Colorado Springs, Colorado.Scotty was a remarkable man. He was always courteous, pleasant to be around, loving, helpful, and kind to all he met. There was never a cross word that passed his lips. He loved to be outdoors and fishing. He was always kidding people and joking around in a friendly way. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosie; son, Earl W. Scott, III; stepson, Albert Hartsfield; parents; brothers, Charles Scott, John Scott, Gary Scott and Kermit Scott; and sisters, Minnie Mae Brune, Margaret Ogletree and Martha Rokeh.He is survived by his stepdaughter, Lillie Webb of Arkansas; sisters, Ruth Trimmel of Garden City, Kansas, Nancy Manley of Falcon, Colorado, Kay Anderson of Chickamauga, Georgia, and Mary (Bob) Manley of Calhan, Colorado; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many friends.
