The Buckley AFB military Retiree Activities Office (RAO) would like to offer our sincere condolences and our gratitude for 1SG Gaines' 24 years of distinguished service to our country in the Army. If you would like help with any matters related to casualty assistance, Defense Finance & Accounting Service, Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP), Veterans Affairs (VA), etc. you can contact our office on Buckley AFB at 720-847-6693. The RAO is staffed by volunteers, all military retirees themselves, and our sole purpose is to provide assistance to any military retirees and surviving spouses/family members with anything related to their military service and/or benefits, in particular during difficult times such as this. I greatly appreciate the kind gestures you extended to my family (dad) throughout the years, even while you were overcoming your own setbacks. I'd like to forget about "the eye" (flipping your eyelid) when I was much younger and so easily frightened lol; nevertheless you will remain in our hearts. To the family of Mr. Gaines: We share in the loss of a kind, caring, very generous, comical, and all around dear gentleman. Mr. Gaines was someone that you looked forward to seeing and being around. With the loss of my mother, he flew to North Carolina to be with Dad ( a best friend), my siblings and I. He continued to check on Dad and us until his passing. Mr. Gaines will be greatly missed. I will never forget the times whne uncle Alfred came on and had his uniform on. He looked so handsome while looking like his daddy my grand-daddy the late Sir Alexander Gaines he even walked like him and stood tall like him. RIP gone but never forgotten,
