Obituary of MSgt Andrew James Clarke, USAF,

Andrew James Clarke was born on May 14, 1932 to the late Andrew Jason Clarke and Mary Etta Wasp-Clarke in Leland, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Louis Charles Clarke; his first wife, Lottie J. Jones; and one sister and brother. Andrew relocated to Flint, Michigan at an early age with his parents. He received his schooling in the public school of Flint after graduating from high school. He joined the United States Air Force where he became a Procurement Specialist and attained the grade of Master Sergeant. He remained in the Air Force twenty-two years and retired April 30, 1974. Andrew then gained employment as a US Government Civil Service, and retired as Chief, Complex Contracts at Fort Carson Army Base in July 1992. He then lived a quiet life with occasional travels with the Parham's, visiting relatives and friends, and reading Time and other magazines.Andrew loved to talk about his childhood experiences, he was so fond of his grandparents, as soon as he joined the Air Force, he sent them an allotment. He also said the Air Force afforded him an opportunity to travel the world. He also expressed enjoyment in writing government contracts. Andrew was endless in talking about his travels to Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Indonesia. He was so excited he was transferred to Leland and was able to spend time with his mother. He was forever grateful that he was able to mentor Archie Tucker after he met him. At Christmas, Archie and family would send his pecans from Mississippi.Andrew was a generous person, and his mother always asked him for assistance burying her relatives in the hills of Mississippi. He helped his two great-nieces, Kimbrella and Liz, attend college. He contributed to many organizations and helped his wife on her school supply project at Friendship Baptist Church. He knew the Bible from attending church while growing up.Some of his favorite quotes were "Lillian just shut your mouth.", "Thank you for the wonderful meal.", "I appreciate the Favors Family taking care of me.", "Johnny, you are not only a brother-in-law, but our personal Handy Man.", "My mother told me that God has really blessed me."Andrew is survived by his wife, Lillian H. Clarke; two stepsons, Terry Jones, and Mark A. Favors; a nephew, Donald Dotson; two nieces, Jackie Smith, and Marylyn Clarke. He was united later in life with half-brothers and sisters, Rosetta Scott-Cook, Earlene Scott-Hughes, Paul S. Scott, Raymond Scott, James Scott, Joe E. Scott, Richard Scott, David Scott, Daniel Scott, and Stewart Scott. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, family friends. Special thanks to the caregivers who assisted him for thirteen years, Mr. John C. Favors, Mrs. Pamela Favors, Mrs. Laura Favors-Wiley, Ms. Janise Favors, Darlene, and Andrew's wife, Lillian H.
