Well Brian it's been almost a year since you've been gone, the mtns last summer just weren't the same without you and Marty. We talk about you all the time and tell stories about the stories you told us that made us laugh. I know you are so proud of Marty for doing what she had to do no matter how hard it was for her. She is one in a billion and a true friend and will always be my Little Sista. We miss and love you Brian. You will live on in our memories forever.

Brian and I met while assigned to 2nd/34th Armor Battalion at Fort Carson 30+ years ago. Brian had many skills and rarely found himself in a situation where he couldn't find a way out. Brian, Steve and I left the military and were roommates at the Grand Bachelor pad on Pando avenue in Colorado Springs. We all worked together in the garage building whatever wooden creations Brian would come up with from furniture pieces to a doghouse with a fan and stained glass. There were fun times there as well as at his home in Peyton where riding snow mobiles across roads fields and pastures was the entertainment. If Brian would ask, do you want to go for a ride? I learned to say no thanks! Brian worked at Drews Woodworking where he hired me as a part time helper. I learned quite a bit building custom cabinets with him. There was a day when he and I were installing some trim and somehow a nail went through my thumb nail, raised the skin but did not go all the way through. I asked Brian to grab a pair of pliers to remove the nail. I pressed my thumb on the edge of the counter so Brian could remove the nail, but he was turning pale while trying to remove it…. we laughed many times about that! A courageous man of Integrity describes Brian, he knew what he wanted and worked hard to achieve it. Brian had a can-do attitude and the courage to do… what many can only dream. men like Brian are not so common; you will be missed!

The end has been such a struggle but you faced it the way you faced everything. Head on and ready to take on the challenge. For over 30 years Bill never worried that I was up there alone. Brian and Marti were just over the valley to get me out of trouble and they did more than once. We will all miss your skills at every job we put in front of you. I will miss the shy smiles and stories around the kitchen table in the house you and Marti have shared with each other and everyone else for so long.

My good friend and neighbor, my oh my .. why I ask....so soon, so young ... we will never forget you brother... I remember the many jobs we did together... the early days back in 2001 when we were building our house, the dinners we had together with Marty, Yvonne and others at our new mountain home on Eaglenest Drive .. and the time we got my first elk... so many good memories, you were truly one of kind, a kindred spirit with a heart of gold... I'm thankful we were able to get your aspen swing set. Something I will cherish and remember you by because you made it... James Buhrman Brian Hoff were do i start sir, We all are so sorry that the lord called you home so soon. I know he has things in heaven he needs u to do. Even that being said all of us here are going to miss you very deeply. He was and will always be my best friend Mr. Hoff we shared times together that ill never forget. He was a true friend to all he touched in his path on this planet. I know he made me the man i am today. We spent more time with each other then we did with our wives. We had so much fun back in the day, we built things, we made things that people said we was crazy, but he had a vision that no other man ive ever known has had. We played hard, we worked side by side for many years, we drank old cheap beer together, he was my friend. He made this place a better place thats for sure. Life had taken us on different paths and i lost touch with him until just recently. We talked for hours about all the silly things that we had done years ago, it made an empty hole in my heart fill up with warmth as we continued talking. It was as if we had never missed a beat in all the years that had gone by. I miss him an it saddens me to know he is gone. I love you buddy and please remember one thing. You are and always will be the best man a friend could ever have. Rest in peace my friend. We love you Brian Hoff and we are missing you now an every second of every day sir.

We will miss you so much Brian. You were one of the 1st people we met when we moved to Colorado 18 years ago. We had no clue what we were doing or who to go to and you and Marty made us feel at home and helped us finish our 1st Colorado home. You put up with a lot from us always asking for help and also our critters, especially Sonny and Stinky's who you liked to call our pups. We've had so many great times together with you and Marty especially 4-wheeling, snowmobiling and sitting around your kitchen table laughing and telling stories. You have been an amazing friend and best neighbor we could've ever asked for. We will miss you greatly! Larry wanted me to share this too....Brian is one of those guys that can think outside the box on how to make something out of nothing and make it work for him. One thing that comes to me is his hot tub out back of the cabin. He had a woodstove in the water to heat up the water, then he had a small trolling boat motor with a 12 volt battery to run it. They invited us over to enjoy it with them. It was a cool snowy evening and it was the best time ever to enjoy that with them. That is just one of many enjoyable memories we had together. Brian was very creative in the way he thinks. and we were very lucky to be his friends.

Sometimes I can't believe this is real. From the moment you were born, Brian, I have loved you so much. As a youngster, I remember all the forts you built either out of big cardboard boxes or scrap lumber. We didn't always buy what you wanted, so you created and made it. Sometimes too young to operate the power tools required so you told your dad how to do it. Later you made knives with deer horn handles. Traded hot wheel toys for little motors, and with one you saw how to make an electric pencil sharpener with it. So, you see, all your life you have been skillful and creative. I thank God for the time we did have with you and I will hold you in my heart and love you forever. Your mom

Brian was a good man. He helped my husband and me out so much with helping us to dig our cars out of the snow on the road leading up to our house and plowing our driveway too! We are so grateful that he did that for us! We have the steepest, scariest driveway in the neighborhood, and yet, Brian was always willing to help us out! We are so sad that he is gone now. He and Marty were such a fun-loving, outdoors-loving pair - always doing snowmobiling, ATVing in the woods, loving the nature and the mountains around us! Brian, like his wife, was very creative, and made beautiful log swings, carved animals - he and Marty made a carved wooden bear! He will be missed for his smile, too. He was always very friendly and told good stories! May God bless him and his memory, and may God bless you, too, Marty.

I will miss you a great deal. From the youngest of memories you were my adventures. Pontoon boats , snowmobiles,go karts, tractors , hot wings. Bowling ,beef jerky, solar king.. You were my dad's buddy in crime and the inspiration for all things motorized..... You were funny and strong willed ! Your ability to fix and make contraptions out of left over things was your true talent!! You showed me if you try you can do anything man or woman.....your sweat pants and side smirk are how I'll remember you for sure!!!!When I smell camp fire it send images of sitting in the octagon room cabin in our sleeping bags looking through sky lights at stars. You achieved your goal of creating your home and how inspiring it was to watch. I will do my best to keep Marty safe and know your legacy lives on within me!!!! Rest easy & know we are gonna go fasstttttttt till the day I die !! I LOVE YOU UNCLE BRIAN

Brian and I became great friends when I bought my cabin near him about three years ago. He was such an unselfish person. He always made sure that I had enough firewood and if I didn't he would help me chop and split the wood. He taught me so much that I didn't know about living in the cold weather. He taught me how to repair water pipes, patch a roof, keep the melting snow from freezing the septic tank, what wood burns slow and fast, about putting chains on tires, and a whole bunch of other things. I will truly miss him.

Brian was a friend, as is Marty. We lived near them up in the mountains. As we came to know Brian and Marty, I remember how much he knew about, well, almost everything. After my first husband passed, Brian was a godsend, helping with handyman chores and building a porch. A gentle soul...a kind person. Softspoken and funny. He did so much for my parents who lived at altitude, and others in the mountain neighborhood. His plow was a welcome sight when the burden of snow overcame the older folks in the area. Grateful to have known him. Grateful he is at peace. Grateful to read so many wonderful things about Brian. Marty was by his side throughout all of this and she blessed his life. Good journey Brian, rest in peace.
