Obituary of Samuel Francisco Navarro-Davis

Samuel Navarro-Davis age 53, passed away comfortably January 11, 2021 after fighting for several years. He was born May 11, 1967 in Panama City, Panama to Agustina and Samuel. Sam eloped and married Dorine Stacy Lynn Batcheller on September 24, 2010, and they were grandparents to three lovely grandchildren; Isaac Michael Montoya Jr., Dillion Dewayne Abston, and Talia Noel Montoya.Sam loved everybody and made sure to make small talk wherever he went! He exemplified the definition of a GRANDfather and family man. He loved music and dancing and you were sure to catch him singing or dancing with his wife. If he wasn't out with us kids enjoying adventurous events or helping a friend in need, he was at home relaxing in front of the loud TV. Sam was a die-hard wrestling fan, he routinely watched Monday night Raw and Thursday night Smackdown. When there was a paper view, Sunday's were an all-day event! If you were ever in his home, a hot plate was guaranteed.Sam was a hard-working man, he held several titles and positions. He worked in an ice factory as a foreman, was a supervisor with WIS, supervised at Ferguson, a bartender at a few bars, and ended his work career as a handyman.Although Sam spent most of his years providing for his family, he also spent quite a bit of time battling his health. In 1976, Sam received a tracheotomy which led doctors to see that he had polyps that grew in his throat. In order to remove the polyps Sam underwent numerous surgeries, 374 to date, to consistently clear the growths dates ranging from 1976-2020. Some months he received more than one surgery because the growths would grow back quicker. Sam's medical background was rare and at times he was flown to certain hospitals so he can help with research. In 2013 the growths went from being benign to malignant and he was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. He went through vigorous chemotherapy and had a portion of his left lung removed, going into remission in 2017. The cancer came back in 2018 and it spread to his right lung. November of 2020, we found out it spread into his liver, ribs, and bone marrow. After chemotherapy was no longer an option, Sam was chosen and started clinical trials in December 2020. After completing only three treatments, doctors informed us that the trials weren't helping and we moved to hospice on January 9, 2021. Our hospice journey ended quick and Sam was free of all pain, surgeries, and studies as of January 11, 2021. His life was a living example of doing what's right and doing what's good. Being kind and helping others, because the world can always use one more kind person.Sam is survived by his wife, Dorine Stacy Lynn Batcheller; his son, Isaac Michael Montoya and daughter-in-law, Chasity Marie Garza; his stepdaughter, Britany Marie Gonzales and stepson-in-law, Tony Terrell Abston.A private Visitation will be held from 4:00PM-6:00PM, Monday, January 18, 2021.Attendees for the Visitation will be capped at 50 people. Masks/facial coverings are required.
