Obituary of Jose Hernandez, Jr.

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Jose "Willie" Hernandez, Jr. He passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, January 23, 2021.Jose was born on May 3, 1967 in Modesto, California to Jose Hernandez, Sr. and Catalina Bustamante. He grew up in Oxnard, California and graduated from Hueneme High (Class of '85) where he met his wife, Martina. High school sweethearts, they married in 1988, one year after he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for six years.He loved fishing, cooking, camping and his sports; being a lifelong fan of the Raiders, Dodgers, and Lakers. He had many adventures and met many people from around the globe, but he was happiest on their ranch in Colorado with his family. He was a grandmaster host, always making sure his family had enough food and laughter.Jose is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Martina; his son, Sebastien (Nicole); and daughter, Krystal; his grandsons, Patrick and Anthony; brothers, Mike and Carlos; and sister, Ida.He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Catalina; and brothers, Casamiro and Joel.Per Jose's wishes there will not be a service of interment, but the family will have a celebration of life at a later date."What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others."
