There are many wonderful memories I have of Dona, one particularly I would like to share…..although, it was not a momentous occasion, it showed Dona's quick wit, wisdom and outlook on life. One sunny spring day, a bunch of us at Autumn Heights, were commiserating the loss of our newly planted flowers. The deer had demolished them in one fell swoop. After listening for a bit and commenting about her flowers as well, she looked at us and said, "I guess they needed them more than us". She was a woman of grace, kindness, and great intelligence. She made a huge impact on any one within her reach. Although during the last years of her life we were not in contact, as my husband and I were fighting some difficult health challenges, she was always in my heart and prayers.
