I got to know Josh last year when our sons became friends in in kindergarten. I will always remember Josh as an active, loving dad who was always around at school, involved, and on all the playdates! On numerous occasions, we would have conversations as we watched the boys play together. Both of us would fondly reminisce about our childhood, and he would frequently talk about his family-his siblings/parents, and about his sons. Speaking, for all of the Kinder Moms, we'll always be grateful for the park playdates, and the time he spent doing the Geocaching scavenger hunts with our kiddos. He was always smiling, kind spirited and generous-and always bringing gifts and goodies, i.e.-whistles, Japanese candies, and balls for the kids. From all of Liam's friends from Kindergarten, and us parents, we send our prayers for God's strength and comfort to the family.

I speak for so many, and in our particular band of brothers in Afghanistan, you had an infectious way of making everyone's day better being around you. We will miss you dearly forever Josh. For me in particular, we grew even closer when I took on a job in Ft. Carson, and without hesitation you opened your home to me, and we got to live together for a bit like dorm buddies. Always cracking jokes at each other and laughing it up. Spending the holidays without my family, again without hesitating you opened your family up to me and had the privilege to meet the your wonderful family. I'll never forget the time we shared brother, you're forever in my heart. To your wonderful family, and your boys, I can't imagine the pain and hurt you all must feel, and my heart pours out for you all during this terrible time. My truest and deepest condolences. I know I don't have to share this fact, but he's got a band of brothers that spans further than I think I can even imagine. He lives through us forever also.

Working in the military with Josh as a firefighter and later with KBR. There's some guys you come across and for whatever reason you feel a instant connection of brotherhood. Josh was most definitely that guy, you couldn't find a more loyal friend if you tried. He captured a place in a lot of peoples hearts. I could say some much more great thing about him but I will just leave this with a poem I read awhile back by Maya Angelou, after hearing of Josh's passing it struck a chord with me. When great trees fall, rocks on distant hills shudder, lions hunker down in tall grasses, and even elephants lumber after safety. When great trees fall in forests, small things recoil into silence, their senses eroded beyond fear. When great souls die, the air around us becomes light, rare, sterile. We breathe, briefly. Our eyes, briefly, see with a hurtful clarity. Our memory, suddenly sharpened, examines, gnaws on kind words unsaid, promised walks never taken. Great souls die and our reality, bound to them, takes leave of us. Our souls, dependent upon their nurture, now shrink, wizened. Our minds, formed and informed by their radiance, fall away. We are not so much maddened as reduced to the unutterable ignorance of dark, cold caves. And when great souls die, after a period peace blooms, slowly and always irregularly. Spaces fill with a kind of soothing electric vibration. Our senses, restored, never to be the same, whisper to us. They existed. They existed. We can be. Be and be better. For they existed.

I met Josh at Misawa AB, Japan . He and I my son were in the same class. As with any youth, he was a bit mischievous, full of joy, and loyal to his friends. He went on to follow his father into the Air Force, taking on a tough job as a firefighter. He served his nation with honor and pride. As I look at my own son, I can't imagine the heartache the Lorbers , his children, and his friends must feel today. He is in a better place but those words hang in sorrow. Our deepest condolences to the family, John and Leanne Estes

I did not know you as well as some on here. I remember some years back when we hung out at a mutual friends place right when I first got into the Air Force. We had a good time every time our oaths crossed and you were a nice person. Rest easy.

I was Josh's supervisor when he was stationed at Peterson. He taught me a lot as a supervisor and am proud to say he is my friend. No matter how hard the day he always had a smile and laugh that would make the day better. He had a way about him that would just make you smile. He will be missed but lives on in many memories. Until we see you again my friend god bless

My deepest condolences to the Lorber family. I had the honor and pleasure of serving with Josh, both at Peterson AFB Fire and overseas as a contractor and also being his roommate in CO and overseas. I'll never forget hanging out together on our days off. Josh always had a smile that lit up the room. I will always be reminded of him when I talk to our son who we named after him. Be at peace friend, I'll see you on the other side. You will be truly missed.

My deepest condolence to Josh's family. I lived next to him for 10 years and know I never had, or ever will have a better neighbor. He being a firefighter and me being a cop, we had a great friendship which involved a lot of poking fun at each other. He was one of the most easiest going, positive people I have ever known. The thing that will most remind me of him was our rivalry over having the greener lawn. He alleged that I painted mine at night when he wasn't watching. We enjoyed that running joke so much. It repeatedly came up in our conversations. Another memory that I just can't forget is the time I telephoned him at 2 in the morning because I came home and noticed his garage was open. While standing out front waiting for him he came rushing out of his house BUTT NAKE. Believe me I have try to forget that picture, but it was another of many times he made me laugh. I dearly will continue to remember these things. I love green grass and will now see it a bit differently. A smile for him and a tear for not being able to hear him giving me that poke. He will always be remembered as one of my brothers. Bless all of you.
