Obituary of Esther Vera Marchbank
Esther "Vera" Marchbank left this world to see the glories of Heaven on March 11, 2021.Born to Lester and Flora Fisher in Freeport, Ohio, Vera will be remembered as a quiet, gentle wife and mother who lived her faith in a consistent manner. Raised in Uhrichsville, Ohio, she started work at Timken where she met Don. They were married September 10, 1944 in Canton, Ohio, where they started their family. In 1963 the family moved to Colorado Springs and started a new chapter, living in Black Forest. The area was very different from the rural suburbs of Canton, but the family came to love the new location. It wasn't long before the family became regular members at Black Forest Chapel and as a gifted pianist, for many years Vera played for congregational singing, choirs and other occasions. In addition to the hymns she cherished, she also enjoyed playing the boogie-woogie and big band music of her youth. Though being a homemaker was her primary focus, Vera also did some other occupations outside of the house, such as working at Hewlett Packard, bus driving, Gazette paper delivery route, winding elevator coils and a co-op daycare with other longtime Black Forest residents. Though a gentle spirit, she was also very independent and strong when she needed to be; working back to her independence after breaking both hips (at different times), then faithfully and patiently cared for Don during his years of dementia, until he went home on April 21, 2019 - after seventy-five years of marriage. Vera is survived by her sons, Rick (Maggie), Dave (Mary), Jim (Kelly); and daughter, Gayle (Bob) Williams; along with grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; as well as her beloved cat, Pippin. A private burial is being held, Friday, March 26, 2021, Eastonville Cemetery, North East Corner, Meridian Road and Latigo Road. A Celebration of Life and Homecoming is being held at 10:00AM, Saturday, March 27, 2021, Black Forest Chapel, 14190 Black Forest Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80908.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Black Forest Chapel, 14190 Black Forest Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80908.We would like to thank Abode Hospice, HomeCare Assist and other individuals for the caring of mother.
