Obituary of Christina Kay Komrofske

Christina Kay (German) Komrofske of Colorado Springs passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at the age of 41. She was born on April 22, 1979 to Mark and Irene German in Des Moines, Iowa. Christina attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and graduated in 2001 with a Bachelors of Nursing. She spent the vast majority of her career as a NICU nurse at Children's Hospital in Colorado Springs where she saved the lives of countless babies.Christina was a devoted mother first and foremost. She loved her son Blake unconditionally and with all her heart. Christina was smart, kind, funny, proud, independent and incredibly strong and resilient. She persisted to live a full life despite repeated health issues and fought chronic pain for several years and did it with grace and toughness. Christina fought as hard as she possibly could and did not want to leave us. As a nurse she cared for and nurtured hundreds of newborn babies with health issues of their own and gave them a chance to live. For her whole life Christina loved children and always wanted to care for them and had an innate understanding on how to love and nurture them. As a mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend she gave you everything she had in kindness and love.Christina had many interests and hobbies. She was an avid photographer. Christina loved scrapbooking and journaling. She loved sports and grew up playing softball and basketball. She was always so incredibly proud to watch her own son play hockey and baseball and watched every game she could. Christina is preceded in death by her father, Mark German, with whom she had a special father-daughter bond. She is survived by her son Blake Michael Komrofske; her mother, Irene German; her brother, Scott German; and her nieces, Aria and Anika German. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Blake Komrofske's college fund.
