Obituary of Kyle Benjamin Spiller

Kyle died of COVID-19 at the University of Colorado Anschutz Hospital in Aurora, Colorado. The care he received was excellent and we are profoundly grateful for the kindness and expert medical care he received. Kyle was born at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York to Tina (Spiller) Phillips and Murray Levison. His parents decided to use his mom's maiden name as his last name because his dad had too many instances of gross misspellings and mispronunciations of his last name, and didn't want the boys to go through life with that frustration. Kyle also lived in Davis and Napa, California, Ironwood, Michigan and Colorado Springs, Colorado. He loved it here in the Springs, and never wanted to live anywhere else. At the time of his death, he worked as the Operations Manager at the Colorado Springs franchise of 1-800GotJunk. He worked his way up from security to co-director during his nine years with the Paul Mitchell School in the Springs. He also worked part-time for the Colorado Rapids soccer franchise where he compiled and recorded game statistics. During his college years, he worked part-time for Adidas doing marketing and product displays.Kyle joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during high school in Ironwood, Michigan. He was warmly welcomed into the hearts of the only LDS family in town and they became very much a second family to him. The LDS community in the Springs impacted his life in a very positive way.He was bigger than life in every way. His infectious smile, intelligence, voice mimicry and generous spirit made him friends wherever he went. He loved sports, firearms, dogs, good food, travel, adventures, his family and friends and his wonderful wife. As his friend Nate said, he was sweet and funny, honest and un-apologetically himself.Kyle was preceded in death by his grandparents, Benny and Harrie Spiller, and Ben and Clara Levison. He is survived by his wife of two years, Charlotte; mom, Tina (Spiller) Phillips and step-dad, Michael Phillips; father, Murray Levison; brother, Austin Spiller (Cheyenne Briggs); step-brothers, Christopher Phillips and Drew (Lisa) Teufel; aunt and uncle, Teddy and Bob Wilson; uncle, Michael Spiller; aunts, Jeanne and Patricia Phillips (Dave Neaves); uncles, Jim and Peter (Cheri) Phillips; and step-grandfather, James P.
