Obituary of Henry Mehrle Weis, Jr.
On April 17, 2021 Henry M. Weis, Jr. passed away at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He recently celebrated his 76th birthday. Henry was born April 1, 1945 in Sioux City, Iowa.�He was the son of Ruth and Henry M. Weis, Sr. and he was the oldest of two boys.Henry worked many years performing maintenance for IBP meatpacking plant in South Sioux City, Nebraska.�Later in life, he was a school bus driver for Dakota Valley Schools before retiring. He was always very handy, and he enjoyed fixing and building things. Throughout his life, he had many interests and hobbies. In his younger years, he loved to bowl, ride go-karts and play pinball machines. Before his disability made it impossible, Henry loved fishing and camping trips with his family. In his later years, he developed a real passion for restoring used medical equipment while living in Roy, Utah.�Whether playing card games, chatting with family and friends, or debating politics, Henry's presence was always known and will be greatly missed.He was preceded in death by his parents; and younger brother, Danny Lee Weis.Henry is survived by his wife, Esther M. Weis of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his daughter, Rhonda Weis of Sioux City, Iowa; his son, Troy Weis of Sioux City, Iowa; his daughter, Traci and son-in-law, Daniel Wilcox of Newport News, Virginia; his daughter, Kristina and son-in-law, Nicholas Bailey of Colorado Springs, Colorado; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.Henry chose cremation and his wishes were to have his ashes buried in Sioux City, Iowa, near his parents, brother, and family members. Due to Covid-19 concerns, his family plans to bring him home this summer.�No specific date has been chosen for his memorial.
