Obituary of Lt Col Raymond Harvey Armstrong

Raymond Harvey Armstrong, age 83, lived in Fountain, Colorado and passed away on April 28, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born June 14, 1937 to Howard and Edith Armstrong in El Reno, Oklahoma and had eight siblings.Raymond joined the Air Force at age 16. He was a fighter pilot and instructor. After thirty-three years he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. During Raymond's esteemed career he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Distinguished Presidential Unit Citation and many more. Raymond was fluent in German and Russian. He had a military flight time of 3300 hours with 450 hours of combat time. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Military Science, Master of Arts in Public Administration, and Master of Business Administration.Later in life he became a teacher and taught many classes such as economics, math, Russian, and German. He also taught at multiple levels of education such as middle school, high school, university, and prison systems.He is survived by his wife, Barbara Rush-Armstrong; his children, Timothy Armstrong, Dawn Williams, Michelle Armstrong, Sherri Watson, Scott Armstrong, Michael Rush, and Chad Rush; his siblings, Carol Brinkman and Elizabeth Spurgeon; his grandchildren, Kristina Kasper, Cassidy Watson, Lance Watson, Kate Armstrong, Jacob Rush, Madelyn Rush Jacob Williams, Aaron Williams, and Brandon Moore; and his great-grandchildren: Sophie Kasper and Dean Kasper.Funeral Service, 12:00PM, Monday, May 10, 2021, The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.Attendees will be capped at 100 people and masks/facial coverings are required.A private Graveside Service will be held at 2:00PM, Monday, May 10, 2021.
