Obituary of SSG George Lee Demery, U.S. Army,
George Lee Demery, better known as "Pierre", at the age of 81, gained his wings on April 30, 2021 at 7:52AM in Fountain, Colorado surrounded by his loving family.He was�born March 30, 1940 in Coushatta, Louisiana to Rosetta Evans and Charlie Demery and was the oldest child of four siblings and the man of the house.�George served his country proudly with the U.S. Army as an infantryman, special forces and chemical specialist/infantry and was also a firefighter. He earned a host of awards and commendation medals. He retired after twenty years and started working civil service at the USAFA for ten years. He was an amazing father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother and gave unconditional love to everyone that crossed his path.�He was a true role model in every area of his life and he didn't just hold his own beliefs, he lived them with conviction. Pierre had a beautiful relationship with God and his faith guided his life. His children and everyone who came in contact with him adored him. He was well known in the Colorado Springs community and the Fountain Post Office. Pierre is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and grandson, Anthony Demery. He is survived by five children, Cynthia V. Lewis, Carla Y. Tyson, Christopher (Suzette) Demery, Cassandra Demery, and Kyle Demery; four grandchildren, Christopher Demery, Alina Lewis, Emilio Demery and Avery Demery; and five great-grandchildren, Eman'i, Triniti, Kiara, Kymani and Kehlani; two brothers, Otis (Eva) Evans and Glen (Louvader) Evans; his only sister, Mattie Pearl Evans Ambeau;�and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends! He will be truly missed and loved forever!Visitation, 9:00AM-11:00AM, Tuesday, May 11, 2021, The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903. Attendees for the Visitation will be capped at 100 people. Masks/facial coverings are required.Graveside Service, 12:00PM, Tuesday, May 11, 2021, Pikes Peak National Cemetery,�10545 Drennan Road,�Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925. Attendees for the Graveside Service will be capped at 40 people. Masks/facial coverings are required.The Graveside Service will be streamed live.
