I had the pleasure of working with Marty up until he retired from Fred Wahl Marine. What a Great man he was. I'll always remember his smiling face as him and I would be walking in the same direction across the yard and then he would make these silly noises, ''Squeak" ''Squeak" ''Squeak" as if he was a squeaky shock or something. He will be missed by many..

It's a sad day when a Man of Marty's caliber leaves us. I worked with him for a good 10 years at Fred Wahl Marine. He was always a fun spirited character that got along with everyone. Pulled his share of shenanigans, all in good clean fun... Was always listening to his country music, I'm more of a rocker, so we would alternate our music choices so everyone wouldn't kill each other lol...he will be missed by many.

So many incredible memories starting back when I was a baby. So thankful for Do & Uncle Marty taking us in as we were one of their own. My favorite memories were celebrating my birthday with Uncle Marty and eating cake with milk! I still do and I always think of Uncle Marty when I do! So grateful to have been a part of his life. So much love he gave to my family and I.

To Dad, my hero, We'll always remember that special smile, that caring heart, that warm embrace, you always gave us. You being there for Mom and us through good and bad times, no matter what. We'll always remember you Dad because they'll never be another one to replace you in our hearts, and the love we will always have for you.

Marty had a story about his days on the "high iron", as the skyscraper builders called it. A young architect had ridden the freight elevator up where the crews were working. The guy wasn't used to those heights, and was chatting to cover up his nervousness. "How come," he asked Marty, "all you damn high iron guys wear cowboy boots?" Marty just glanced at him and grinned: "Just lucky, I guess." Anyone who knew him would agree that we are the ones who were just lucky to know him. If you had to pick just one friend that you could rely on, Marty Compton would be your choice. We now know that legendary racehorse Secretariat's heart was more than twice normal size. Most horse hearts are eight to nine pounds. The red horse had a heart estimated at 22. That happens sometimes with special people. We remember him with smiles, and gratitude. Gary Vorhes
