I first lived with Barb as adults when I was eighteen years old. I needed surgery and had no insurance so she adopted me so the army would pay for it. Leave it to Barb to come up with that. She meant so much to me. She was my mother, my sister, my friend and my roommate. I miss her terribly and always will.

It was great to have some time with Barb at the 50th. The Bacons and Dukes used to square dance together, and share Christmas parties along with the Inmans, many happy memories! Barb was always full of fun!

The very first memory I have of my sister Barb is hiding behind a living room chair with her, waiting to spy on Santa Claus. All her idea of course. We woke up in bed in the morning and thought it was magic! She was full of shenanigans her entire life and I will miss her for the remainder of mine.

I loved reconnecting with her at our 50th. She looked the same! In high school, our lockers were close, and we sat next to each other in class. Alphabetical, remember! Barb was always challenging me. She taught me how to drive a straight stick, to throw and catch a softball, to question a test answer in Mr. Forberg's class, how to skate in hockey skates, and how to be a REAL friend. Boy, will she be missed. Sue (Bedard) Dupree

Barb and I were roommates back in the early 70s at Ft McClellan. We lived in a very small house in Weaver Alabama and decided to have a small house party. So many people showed up, that we had to move the party to someone else's house . Barb and I laughed and laughed remembering those days. Rest In Peace my old friend. I will miss you dearly. SLOW SALUTE

Barbara Bacon was my Drill Sgt September 1972. She changed a shy girl into a soldier. I took this picture of her Thanksgiving 1972. Sending prayers of comfort to her family and friends. Rest In Peace and God Bless.

My sympathy to all of Barb's siblings, family and friends. So very hard to hear the news of Barb's passing. I loved Barb's humor and her smile. She offered her service to her country and I respected her highly for that! Many memories of Barb when I was young and a classmate of my dear friend Kathy! God Bless Barb's Memory! Take care, Peggy Kraemer Thief River Falls, MN

Sgt Bacon was my drill sgt in basic in 1972 and she was such a strong influence in my military career and my life. Remembering her leadership and humor during basic carried me far. It was an honor to have her as DS for those few months.

Barb was a classmate and a friend. She was always a friendly, happy, spunky girl and a kind human being. It was fun to catch up with her again many years after high school and correspond across the miles. I will miss her friendship and messages. My condolences to her family. She will be missed. God Bless you all. Becky Scholin Danielson Hayesville, N.C.

Barb and I had a wonderful visit two weeks ago. We laughed (how could you not laugh with Barb) and reminisced about grade school, high school, and don't forget the Bridgeman Half Pints Drum and Bugle Corps. Do you suppose that is where she got her first marching lessons? Barb handled her cancer with strength, determination, and humor. She said her doctor didn't find it funny when she asked what pet she could bring to her PET Scan - imagine that. Barb, I will miss our visits. Rest in peace --
