Obituary of Desiderio "Desi" Ortiz

Desiderio "Desi" Ortiz, 76, died May 24, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.He was born April 12, 1945 in Villanueva, New Mexico to Mike and Ignacita (Vigil) Ortiz.Desi loved his career at the United States Air Force Academy. His loyalty and dedication to the Academy was impressive. Desi escorted so many people, from the President to Generals to foreign country dignitaries to princesses. He escorted Neil Armstrong and James Earl Jones and many more famous people. Desi enjoyed being in the limelight and he was good at it.�At home, Desi loved his family and he enjoyed projects at home like building a shed and laying hardwood floors. He was very meticulous and always did a perfect job. Desi loved his daughters, Athea and Jaynah. They were his pride and joy and was their Poppy and he will truly be missed by them. He loved me so very much. Through all the good times and bad, Desi truly loved his wife with all his heart. He wanted more than anything to be remembered as being a good father.�He loved all his cars. Desi worked on cars and did it with a passion. He was very proud of all the cars he refurbished and fixed from the motor to the seats. As for indoors, he loved to watch old western movies.�He was preceded in death by his sons, Cory Ortiz and Desi Ortiz; and his parents.Desi is survived by his wife, Robyn Ortiz; son, Dean Ortiz; daughters, Athea Ortiz and Jaynah Ortiz; and grandsons, Allen Maurow, Desi Ortiz and Henry Ortiz.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Desi's memory may be made to Salvation Army Rehabilitation, salvationarmyusa.org
