Obituary of Gary Carl Johnson

Gary Carl Johnson, 76, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed into the arms of the Lord peacefully at his home on June 1, 2021.He was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on June 24, 1944 to Carl and Lillian (Mervine) Johnson (both deceased).Gary graduated from Wasson High School in 1962.He continued his education at Hasting College in Nebraska getting a dual degree in both Education and Art. During this time, he suffered from migraines and when chiropractic care relieved him of them, he realized a desire to help others like he was helped using natural means. He then traveled to St Louis and got his Chiropractic degree at Logan College of Chiropractic.He was hired as Educational Coordinator at Logan in 1970. He also taught the basic sciences and in 1985 he became a Full Professor.His father's failing health prompted a family move back to Colorado Springs, so he retired from Logan College in 1997.Although he also had a private chiropractic office in Webster Groves, Missouri, his heart was always within education of the chiropractic profession.He is survived by his devoted wife of forty-two years, Becky (Vogt) Johnson; two daughters; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandson.Gary is preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Johnson.He was an avid pool player, a total car guy and loved to hunt and fish.Gary will be dearly missed by his family and friends. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the tight group of friends that were there for Gary during the difficult times.Memorial Service will be held July 9, 2021 at 2:00PM at the First Evangelical Free Church, 820 North 30th Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904.The service will be streamed live on www.1freechurch.org and will be able to be viewed after the service is done.Memorial contributions in Gary's memory may be made to the new building fund of the First Evangelical Free Church.
