Obituary of Deborah "Debbie" Lynn Taylor

Deborah "Debbie" Lynn Taylor, 68, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on June 16, 2021, in her home. Her husband, children, and grandchildren attended lovingly to her needs until her last breath. Born on May 18, 1953, in historic St. Augustine, Florida to Gladys Downing Crawford and Blank Fullerwood, Debbie, also known as "Deb", attended Richard J. Murray High School. During her time at Murray, she became the sweetheart of Jimmy Taylor, Jr., starting a relationship that lasted over five decades. They later married at the Wedding Chapel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Debbie became a nurse assistant during this time. After Jimmy received his degree in electrical engineering, he was hired by Hewlett Packard. Being adventuresome, he considered moving to Georgia, California, or Colorado. The two of them, along with their firstborn, Chucky, moved in 1976 from sunny Florida and its nearby beaches to Colorado Springs' breathtaking rocky mountains and aspens. Debbie continued working as a nurse assistant. However, she, too, later joined Hewlett-Packard/Agilent Technologies as a Technical Info Services Specialist, retiring after thirty years. Her children fondly remember company picnics and other special outings. Jimmy and Debbie consistently spent quality time with their children locally or while traveling. Las Vegas ranked as a top travel destination.Initially renting a house upon their arrival in Colorado Springs, the couple eventually built their first home on Shrider Road, owning horses and a pony. With plans of a growing family, they constructed a larger home on Fuller Road; the Taylors still reside there. They had a horse, turkeys, ducks, geese, dogs, cats and other animal friends over the years. This additional space also allowed for larger gatherings for birthday parties, holiday celebrations, and family visits. The adults and children loved when their door was opened to guests. Debbie enjoyed cooking, entertaining, vacationing, reading, and spending time with her three grandchildren. She gave lots of hugs and kisses whenever they were in her presence. The grandkids also learned important life lessons in her presence. She often cared for them in her home or traveled wherever they resided. Every holiday and birthday celebration received a special "Debbie" touch. Friends and family often tell of her ability to make others feel welcomed and loved. Her generosity to those she encountered was limitless.Debbie expressed her abiding acceptance of Jesus as her savior. Notably, she followed His command to love others. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Downing Crawford; father, Blank Fullerword; special aunt-in-law, Oceola Adams; uncle, Johnnie Harris; and favorite cousins-in-law, Thaddeus and Ira Chapman. Debbie is survived by her husband, Jimmy Taylor Jr.; children, Jimmy "Chucky" Taylor III, Bryan and Alicia Thomas, and Michael Taylor; grandchildren, Tiana Ann-Marie Taylor, Kaden Jon Thomas, and Kaleb Jimmy Thomas; sisters, Joan Crawford-Hawkins and Lenna Marie Bunyon; and sister-in-law, Mary Taylor Whitfield. She was loved dearly by other family and friends in Florida, Georgia, Ohio, and other states. It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. Give one of yours, as no one needs a smile so much as he who has none to give.
