Obituary of Retha LaVon Morris
Retha was born to Wayne and Goldie Sisk on August 1, 1932 in Grant City, Missouri. She passed away in Colorado Springs, Colorado on June 20, 2021 at the age of 88. Her growing up years on the ranch near Lyons, Colorado gave her a good work ethic and a love for the outdoors and hunting and wildlife that her Dad instilled in her.Retha moved to Lyons, Colorado at a young age with her parents and sister, and they lived on a ranch on acreage. She was united in marriage with Donald Scheidegger, and they had a daughter, Connie, and son, Douglas. They moved to Boron, California in 1957, and in 1963 she started working at U.S. Borax as a Purchasing Agent, a position she held until retirement in early 1990. It was at U.S. Borax that she met Johnnie Morris and remarried. Johnnie introduced her to the game of golf, and when they moved to Colorado Springs in 1990, they played golf on a regular basis for fun and loved being on the course.Retha had many great neighbors on her block as well as in the community. She enjoyed her No Hat club, Pearl Harbor survivors group, and the widows gatherings also. Retha stayed in touch with childhood friends, classmates, coworkers, family members, and relatives on a consistent basis and sent many cards to wish a Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary, and of course cards that said she was thinking about them. She will be fondly remembered for being neat and tidy and a joy to be around, always extremely pleasant. Retha had her Church family in the Springs and enjoyed Sunday services, worship, and Scripture reading too. Retha is survived by her sister, Veniece Harroun; daughter, Connie Campbell; son, Doug Scheidegger; her grandsons, Shad Campbell and Josh Campbell; and great-granddaughters, Ashlee Campbell and Reese Campbell, as well as Pamela Harroun, Sandy Gambel, Vanessa Harroun, and many children from these unions. Memorial Service, 1:00PM, Saturday, July 31, 2021, Sunrise United Methodist Church, 2655 Briargate Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80920.
