Obituary of Michael Alan Bronaugh
Michael "Mike" Alan Bronaugh was born February 13, 1958 in Houston, Texas. He was the son of Louis Alan and Charda Pierce Bronaugh; brother of Christina Bronaugh Peavy, Belinda Bronaugh Teer, and Timothy Edward Bronaugh; grandson of Louis H. and Nina Faye Halliday Bronaugh and Chardo (C. W.) and Pat Stagner Pierce. Mike died July 13, 2021 in a hospital in Colorado Springs, after a long battle with cancer.Mike was proud to be an Eagle Scout, gold palm. He is also proud of his Choctaw heritage. Mike loved to hunt and was well known as an accomplished black-bass fisherman. He graduated from Lufkin High School in 1976, and from Tyler Junior College with an Associate's Degree in Opticianry. He followed his father, Louis A. and grandfather, Louis H. in the family optical profession, honing his skills in several Texas cities, as well as in Raleigh, North Carolina and finally in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was associated with Bronaugh Opticians in Lufkin for many years, where he was well known for his skills in fabricating and fitting specialty eyewear. Mike was a Certified Optician and a member of the Opticians' Association of America. He owned and operated Bronaugh Independent Opticians in Lufkin from 2009 to 2015. Mike was a long-time member of First Christian Church, Lufkin where he was involved in the Music Ministry department as a member of the Praise Team, Chancel Choir and the Handbell Choir.Mike and his faithful dog, Ace, eventually decided to head for the high country and chose to make their home in Colorado Springs, Colorado from 2015 to the present. They enjoyed the outdoors, hiking the mountain trails in the back-country around Pikes Peak at every opportunity. Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father; and his brother, Tim.Mike Bronaugh is survived by his faithful canine friend, Ace; mother, Charda Bronaugh; siblings, Christina and Woody Peavy, and Belinda and Craig Teer of Lufkin; niece, Christa Ogden of Durant, Oklahoma; nephews, Alan (Kellie) Randolph, Rand Teer, and Perrin Teer of Lufkin; grandniece, Ava Ogden; grandnephews, Jason Little Thunder and Timothy Michael Randolph of Durant, Oklahoma; and numerous extended family members.The Springs Funeral Services-North in Colorado Springs is in charge of the cremation. Memorial contributions in Mike's memory may be made to a favorite ministry at First Christian Church, Lufkin.
