Obituary of Sheryl Lynn Holbrook

Sheryl Lynn Holbrook, beloved wife and mother, departed from this world to be with the Lord early Friday morning, July 16, 2021, at the age of 69.Sheryl Lynn Belote was born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1951, to Richard Belote and Joan Campbell Belote in Memphis, Tennessee. She graduated from Whitehaven High School in 1969 in Memphis, Tennessee and attended Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. While attending Belmont, she met and later married Bill Holbrook, also of Memphis, in 1971. They celebrated fifty years of marriage just recently on June 25th. She accepted the call as a minister's wife and faithfully served alongside Bill in various churches in six states including new church work through the North American Mission Board in Iowa and Illinois. Sheryl and Bill raised three daughters, Christi Lynn (Scott) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kimberly Holbrook of Horn Lake, Mississippi, and Catherine Andrews (Dan) of Brunswick, Ohio. She was known as "Nana" to four grandchildren, Austin Turman of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Katie Stutts (Mack) of Colorado Springs, Andrew DeCarlo of Rocky River, Ohio, and Matthew Lynn of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and along with one great-grandson, Roman Stutts. She is preceded in death by her father, Richard Belote; and her in-laws, Bill, Sr. and Chris Holbrook.Sheryl is survived by her mother, Joan Belote; sisters, Susan Harriss and Amie Belote Dunn; brother, Keith Belote; her husband; her three daughters; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Throughout the eleven churches and mission points, Bill and Sheryl ministered together, she was involved in several ways such as helping Bill with creating bulletins, singing in the choir, being involved in WMU or teaching Girls in Action (GA's) or Acteens. For a season, she even began a clowning ministry with her daughters. As hobbies, Sheryl enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, scrapbooking, color pencil books, watching Hallmark Christmas movies and reading any Karen Kingsbury book she could. Above all, she loved the Word of God and was often found working through a bible study or Sunday school lesson.
